This final was a piece of history: first championship for Jordan, last game in a final for Magic, end of showtime in LA, the beginning of a dinasty for Bulls, Phil Jackson becoming a legend as a coach, and the last final in the Forum
@Riles31524 ай бұрын
All of this is correct but I think Showtime officially ended the year before when Pat Riley resigned as HC after the Lakers were upset in the 2nd round by Phoenix. The 90-91 Lakers under 1st year HC Mike Dunleavy, brought in a different, slower paced style of play. They had a really good season and honestly OVER-achieved to get to the finals after upsetting the best record in the league Portland Trailblazers. This marked the end of the Magic era altogether (Even though he made the brief comeback in 96 for the 2nd half of that season, where LA went on to lose in 1st round of playoffs and Magic eventually retired for good)

You REALLY need to take a look at Magic from around 1982-84. Jordan wasn’t even in the league then. Magic was unreal at his peak … fast, athletic and incredible passing. This is NOT the Showtime Lakers the Bulls defeated (Kareem, Wilkes, McAdoo and Nixon are long gone). Magic is older here, slower and a shell of what he was once was athletically. It’s amazing they even made it to the finals in ‘91 honestly.
