Throwback Thursday: 1990 Corvette ZR1

It won't be confused with the current Corvette, but in 1990 the ZR1 was the talk of the automotive world.
Some trivia, the engine was assembled by Mercury Marine and shipped to the Corvette factory in Bowling Green.

I just bought a 1990 ZR-1, in the process of restoring/rebuilding her. I remember when they came out they were way out of my price range. I feel honored to own one now and I'm going to get her right and drive the wheels of this bad boy. 👍👍🏁

It was "the" car back in the day. A lot of people complained about the fact you actually had to know what to look for to tell the difference between it and every other vett on the road, but I kinda like the "stealth" approach myself :)

The body is 3" wider in rear, thats how you tell... and they only made just under 7000 of them from 1990 to 1995. Average speed of 175 mph for 24 hours straight with the a/c on. Hasnt been done since !

If only the zr1 didn't have that horrid chassis flex, it would also be a 10 in my book. Nonetheless, it's still an amazing car.

that only when the roof is off, it bolts on and is fairly stiff. but people get in them now 30 years later and say they are loose but its because there is over 100 rubber bushings in the rear suspension alone and its just old and needs to be refurbished which is cheap to do but a pain so it rarely gets done.

He's saying "zed R one" . Some English speaking countries say "zed" instead of "z"
