Hey Mitchell, open the end of the keg and add sand to the desired weight Brian Alsruhe has a great tutorial on how he makes his strongman kegs ("How To: Make a Keg for Strongman Training") The sand would also make it bounce less when it hits the ground Happy training and good luck for the 2024 World's Strongest Man !

its actually going to be easier with the weight on the end as you will be building centrifugal force on the implement which helps it get into a "swing". try and get the weight into the center of it and it will be as difficult as possible.

The ones in the older competitions were usually loaded with shot or shingles, so the weight did rest in the bottom portion of the kegs. I don't know if the new kegs will be loaded the same way, though.

ABS pipe. (Black pipe). 12’x3”diameter. Get 4, + 2 couplings, ABS glue, 2 ten gallon buckets, a bags of quick dry cement and a level. Home depot has a flat delivery fee $60 go to the pro-desk to order it. Place one pipe in the bucket, fill with half a bag cement add water mix it so all the cement is wet, use the level to make sure the pipe is straight. Let dry. Glue the second pup on top of that. Repeat. Now you have two free standing poles.

Easiest way to make your stands work without going backwards is to get a piece of 3/4 pvc pipe, cut it to the width of your yolk uprights and run the rope through it. They’ll still be flaccid…uh, floppy, but it’ll give a straight line and keep the uprights the right distance apart. Also, it’s so encouraging to finally see something I’m better at than you. ( making a weight for height rig, not the throwing. You still got me there).
@AlasdairThompson

Wrapping that PVC tightly with clingfilm/saran wrap will help with the floppyness a surprising amount. They'll still bend, but way less than they do now.

Those guys will commission a project for you. The kids will get good welding and fabrication experience, and you'll get a cool, unique apparatus that'll last forever.

One question: you have won basically ALL the most imporant titles as a strongman athelete, most likely will keep winning more and more, but you have already "checked the boxes" ykwIm... from now on, it seems that you are trying to pursuit breaking all the sport's records (insane) and that's the coolest thing ever. Am I right about that one? Because if it is, that's basically a guy that made 100% in the game and now is pursuing all the best items and finishing the DLC's missions 😂 God bless

U could get a larger diameter pipe that would just fit inside the square tube of the apparatus u had it tied to attach chain across the top then u could slide the pipe inside the square tube let it drop all the way to the ground and then to raise it all u would have to do is lift it to height desired and place a pin in the square tube to stop the pipe from falling back down that way u could adjust it to the height desired in seconds this would make it way sturdier and more convenient just an idea

There is a little spring wire holding in the sake keg valve. If you remove the spring, the valve will slip out, and you can add sand into the keg and make it heavier. You can buy a tool or I have done this with a needle nose pliers. Video showing the tool: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKmWmoNpnJ1lZsk

It'll be a great rivalry in the future.
