I play basketball, and im quite athletic, im usually the fastest player on the court at any given time. On my layups however im only allowed two steps to decelerate and I find the only way to decelerate all that speed is to plant my heels into the ground, giving me awful pain in my knees, could you make a video on how to adress this
@Performancelabofcalifornia6 жыл бұрын
vinuzo yes we will make a video addressing this issue

I know it sounds weird, but instead of planting your heels, take small hops when you decelerate and try to land on the balls of your feet.

Wouldn't it be better to have your pivot foot at a 45 degree angle to help drive the throw?

Worst thing you can do when throwing a "deep ball" is to drop your back shoulder. In the video you can see when the back shoulder drops the front shoulder goes up...this causes a chain reaction that shortens the entire left side, the left foot becomes closer to your body shortening your stance and this will undoubtedly cause you to have to STEP in order to complete the throw, and as the foot is off the ground your motion has started and there is very little chance that the lead foot hit the ground at the precise time you need it to in order to allow your glute, hips, and thoracic to properly fire and propel your shoulder, elbow and arm through the throw. It's also good to define what a "deep ball" actually is. In HS football a Go Route or Deep Post (if coached properly) are the same exact throws, and should be caught between 27-35 yards, college 30-40,45 yards, and the NFL +35 depending on many factors obviously. There's not a starter at the Varsity level who cannot throw an accurate 27 yard pass from hash to hash...but if the drop, read, timing of the throw (hitch/no-hitch) there shouldn't be a hitch by the way, and then the mechanics of the throw itself all align the TDs that should've been caught at 27-35 yards are prayers thrown up late over the middle with poor timing and mechanics, turning into incompletions, INTs, and loss of confidence.
