I'm old, don't even know what a pod cast. Just found your site, and will say that I love how you go through the entire process. Would be nice to see you glaze just one piece. Thanks so much and happy new year.

It's so helpful to see. The part about the last pull being where you focused the clay outward was really helpful. I have been starting with cylinders and then bringing them outward (not always working) and to see the final pull be where the opening expands might help things to be less static in the process. Thanks!

They are gorgeous!! I've been loving your videos. I'm trying to glean as much info as I can while waiting for my wheel. It comes next week. That glaze is an amazing colour. It is the perfect touch of minimalist colour. Any tips for a brand new potter? I took my first class this winter and I can't wait to start practicing. The biggest thing I'm wondering about it how thick I should make walls on pieces and how to get them to dry without cracking. Thanks again for your videos.

I also listen to podcasts. I love true crime podcasts, such as Crime Junkie or The Deck. Or I listen to podcasts in my native language - ukrainian :) We don't have as much true crime, but I found stereo theater, which is amazing.

probably a dumb question but do these bowls have foot-rings?

Hey what type of clay do you use? Right now I'm using both amaco #67 red Sedona clay and Laguna B-mix but I'm having trouble with both. Seems to have a very strange consistency/ very hard/cracking easily while wedging and doesn't keep it's shape when throwing very easily. Pulling walls is also almost impossible and friction happens easily even after putting lots of water. I've made pots fine before so I'm just wondering if it's my clay or me

I've never made any pottery. Why do you remove glaze off the bottom? Is it to prevent the glaze from sealing in moisture that would cause the pot to break apart during firing?
@chrispya12 жыл бұрын
It keeps the glaze from melting onto the kiln shelf.
@abittwisted2 жыл бұрын
@@chrispya1 Thank you. I did not think about that. Some day I hope to make a few pieces of pottery to completion. Im growing, processing, spinning and weaving flax into linen and going to grow my own shirt. I am close to weaving a pile I have grown and spun. Then I'll move on to pottery. At least some basics.

How do you keep your pot centred when trimming? I have been using clay to hold mine down otherwise it moves around
@PotterytothePeople2 жыл бұрын
If you can get good suction, you dont need lugs to hold the pot down. Its easier with wider pots like bowls. I will use clay lugs too if I need them. ☺️
