In this video, I'm showing you in detail everything that I'm carrying on my thru-hike end-to-end (JoGLE) across the UK.
Even though most of my gear is ultralight, I'm not an ultralight backpacker when I'm hiking with Otto since I'm carrying quite some stuff for him too.
You can find my entire gear list (with all the weights etc.) here: lighterpack.com/r/itw64b
On our hike we’ll try to raise funds for the Green Forest Fund and the WWF. Feel free to support our charity: www.betterplace.org/de/fundra...
If you want to support our adventure and fuel our hike with coffee for me and treats for Otto: ko-fi.com/ellihikes
Thank you so much!
Happy hiking,
Elli and Otto
Ps: Sorry for the empty last 10seconds…. Tried to edit that out, but couldn‘t upload it again since I‘m already out hiking…..

Good information, I am preparing to bring my dog on a 2-3 day backpacking trip and had not thought of several items you packed for your dog.

That's a weird coincidence, just found your channel and I was looking at the gramxpert quilts earlier today! I can't find anything else synthetic that's as light and warm, so I'll be interested to watch your videos and see how you find it holds up in different temperatures. I've subbed, it's so nice to find someone hiking LEJOG (or JOGLE) on KZbin, it's weirdly rare. Not sure if you already did the trip and you're slowly releasing videos, or if you're still doing it and releasing the videos as they go, but I hope it goes / went well!

Thank you so much 😊 yes, I'm hiking JoGLE at the moment, editing the videos on the trail... It's not my first quilt from Gramxpert, I really love them. I have the Apex 233 version and am very happy with it. Had temperatures of down to -2°C and I was totally fine (I am a cold sleeper and had to wear all my layers (thermals+puffy and one time even my rain pants)). Really pleased with it and the material feels great and is very durable 😊

@@ellihikes I've been looking at a lighter quilt (Synthetic as i am also vegan) I had been looking at the enlightened equipment ones but hadn't realised there was a company in Europe making similar ones so I will order from them instead. How did the Apex233 work out on the trail. My next trail hike is going to be the west highland way some time around May .

Hai Ellie, I also just bought a Durston Solid and I want to take my dog with me hiking (same height like your dog). I am afraid that my dog will make holes in the floor of the inner tent with her nails since the fabric is very thin (same counts for my sleeping bag). What are your experiences with this? Greeting Tom P.s. I like your videos: a lot of useful info!😊
@ellihikes

Hi :) I make sure that my dogs nails aren't getting too long by cutting them from time to time. But I didn't have ANY issues with holes whatsoever even after well over 100nights in the tent. The material is thin, but I didn't get any holes in it! Thank you for your feedback :)

Thank you :) I have a compass on my gps watch. I don't carry paper maps (too heavy and too expensive), but I have offline maps on my phone and on a gps device as a backup 😊

Hi Elli, i think we have the same organization for the dog...how many kilomètres do you do with yours ? Thanks
@ellihikes
@ellihikes Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the terrain, elevation and weather. But on regular paths (so nothing too rocky) and with elevation of up to 600m/day, we're averaging 14-16miles. That's a comfortable distance for us if we're hiking for days I'm a row....

@@ellihikes great, i am in the same distance, 25 kms by days sometimes 30.

Please can you let me know what make your hooded top is?, it looks so light and warm 😊. Thanks 👍
@ellihikes
@ellihikes Жыл бұрын
It's made by a small German company called Outliteside, but I don't know if they ship to other countries as well. But the material is called Polartec Alpha Direct (super lightweight fleece fabric), so maybe other companies use that fabric too...
