Great stuff dude. Waffling night time right now in taking this in the PCT this year. I use this on smaller trips all the time, it sorry about water carries and bear can. Would love to see a shot of this on IG with the bear can (please). Or DM one and I’ll owe you a beer 😃

How would this be in hot weather? Thinking about the Camino de Santiago in the summer time and the Kumo doesn't seem to have a ventilation system for the part that rests against your back. I can just imagine pools of sweat forming there...would love your input.

I love the pack and I'm using mine this summer to walk the welsh coast path in the UK .I just had to ask how you would hope to take off ur puffy coat and reach around and put it into the net pocket WITHOUT TAKING OFF THE PACK HA ID LOVE TO SEETHAT ONE ???

Yo Pete, thinking about this. Technically what I say is wrong. you do have to take the pack off partially. How to do it: Take one shoulder strap off, remove puffy sleeve from free arm. Put shoulder strap back, remove shoulder strap from other side, take puffy sleeve off that arm, now pull puffy completely free from your back and can stick it in the kumo. I did it commonly if I was in a hiking groove and didn't want to stop. Truthly, rather convoluted for the conventional hiker, not-uncommon for an ultralight backpacker. But for your satisfaction, you are correct, technically you take the pack off in part!

Not sure why so many hikers remove hip belt. Isn’t the weight suppose to be on your hips?

Hey Erin looks like you commented the same thing twice! When you weight is low enough your shoulders can support it. I’ve hiked over 2000 miles like this. But my base weight was 7.5lb. By forgoing the hip belt you avoid any chaffing, and extra heat, as well as freeing up your hip movement. It’s not for most hikers, but for many ultra lighters it’s a go-to. If it’s not for you, then do your thing!

I love my Kumo! I got the camo edition, but it is perfect for the summer months / gear. What is your base weight for summer gear? I recently cut mine down to 9.3 lbs. Just subbed!

What sleeping pad do you use? Closed cell sleeping pad or an air sleeping pad?

Hey Markus, I've carried the thermarest xlite in the past, and am carrying the uberlite now, both of which are inflatable. Unlike most UL hikers, I don't sleep well on closed cell pads. Happy trails!

Nope. Too small. Fits more like 2 cliff bars comfortably.

Nope. They are integrated. Both side pockets hold 2 smart water bottles. I’ve never had a problem!

What sleep pad do you use that fits well in the back area of the Kumo? I was considering the thin light 1/4” or 1/8” but wasn’t sure if they’d both fit ok in that are mesh area.

Both will fit great! I carried a 1/8” foam pad and my Uberlite together and it was tight but worked fine.

How do you stow your trekking poles?

Hi there, I put the handles in a water bottle pocket and thread the poles through the side straps up the side of the pack. No fancy stuff here!

@@relishhikes3274 just got my Kumo today and mine did not come with side straps. Did you have to buy your own straps? Also...did not see anywhere to attach a bladder...do you use a bladder and just let it free in your pack or did you find a way to attach it? Thanks in advance!

@@afgpak11 Hi there. I think they took the bladder pocket out a few years ago. Most hikers using the Kumo are in the light/ultralight category, and most of those hikers don’t use a bladder because of its weight. Looking at the current model on their website shows the shock cord and loops for side compression. If you’re missing components I’d reach out to them.
