seems the slanted back pocket allows access without opening or loosing the top. The slant adds room, most companies may just end the pocket lower and make them both below the top

Mine arrived today. Great product. Tested it around the house. The shoulder straps fit my Smart phone in one and Inreach in the other perfectly. 1 liter water bottle was easy to take out and replace. The sternum strap is perfect and needed as my shoulders hurt at first as well. but with adjustment improved. Since my AT and LT thru hikes this year my body is just not used to carrying the weight now. Overall - Well Done Gossamer and thanks Neemor for doing this!!!

+Bill Caulway awesome! I'm glad to hear you got one already. You got any trips planned to bring it on soon?
@billcaulway99107 жыл бұрын
Neemor's World ... Sure do. Southern Cal. National parks for a few weeks in Jan. Costa Rica for 2 weeks in Feb. Maybe thru hiking the Arizona Trail starting late April, early May. Definitely doing the Colorado Trail starting the first week of July. Life is good. How about you? CDT?
@NeemorsWorld7 жыл бұрын
+Bill Caulway nice man! Where in Costa Rica are you going? The Colorado trail sounds awesome. That ones on my list for sure. Nahh. I might not hike the CDT. I've never gotten excited about it, and that would be a lot of time and money to do something that I'm not that into. But maybe one day I'll change my mind. I've got a lot of shorter things planned in the next couple of months though.
@billcaulway99107 жыл бұрын
+Neemor's World - mostly the natural history, parks ect. You have a good attitude about the CDT. I have learned that 6 to 8 weeks is my happy place to be away from home. Being in my 50's I have 3x20 somethings and a wife and we enjoy our time together. They are not into hiking so I'm solo. After the CT and AZT I will probably do the PCT in timed sections. That way I can also do them during the nicest time of year. Keep up the good work on KZbin. You have a real talent. Whenever I see the qaulity that people like you produce it just amazes me. Just not my skill. GG has been very nice to me.

I have the older pack with those same straps, I noticed that any weight over 18~ lbs. then the straps are uncomfortable but anything under that they don't cut into your shoulder as bad
@brentwelborn257 жыл бұрын
with your handiness with needlework and the growing popularity of the lycra shoulder pockets, I wish someone would do a video on making these types of pockets to add on to existing packs via attachment or even better, just sewing it directly to current should straps. Just sayin! Thanks for the review!

@4:15 how tall it's the front stretchy fabric on the right side? From the base of the pack (the floor if it was resting on the ground) to the rim.
@TheGoatMumbler7 жыл бұрын
The shoulder strap padding density is concerning as that is what is supporting the weight. If it's not comfortable then you won't carry it. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

TheGoatMumbler - I have it and at first the straps bothered me. After adjusting the sternum strap and hip belt it was better.

Thanks for the discount code. I think the fact that you used the old pack for 3000+ miles speaks the loudest. Do you think other super/hyper light packs can match the Kumo in over loading/weighting situations?
@NeemorsWorld6 жыл бұрын
Yup! There are a lot of other lightweight packs that would be comparable in durability, but most of them are a bit more expensive than the Kumo.
@JasonLooseArrowAlso7 жыл бұрын

I'm curious what made you go worth the kumo rather than the murmur... I'm thinking to get the murmur but I'm on the fence between the 2. The murmur is 5 ounces lighter fully equipped.
@NeemorsWorld7 жыл бұрын
+Bravely Living I am actually not a fan of the murmur. I've heard lots of bad reviews and seen 2 that have ripped on trail. It's lighter, because they used thinner less durable materials. I think the murmur would be great if you only carried 10-12 lbs, but most people carry quite a bit more on food and water carries.
@bravelyliving58697 жыл бұрын
Neemor's World thanks for the input... I'll go with the kumo...I was worried about durability!

Could you fit a 1L smart water bottle on the front mesh pockets on the shoulder strap?
@NeemorsWorld6 жыл бұрын
Not easily. You could jam it in there, but the pocket wouldn’t last very long.
@tsizzle6 жыл бұрын
Neemor's World Cool! Thanks for the info. Wish they have some sort of special lightweight pocket to securely hold a 1L or 750ml smart water bottle like the ones on UD Fast packs. Personally I think it would be super useful. Otherwise, the pack looks great! Trying to decide between Kumo and UD fast pack. Thanks for the review. Love the soundtrack music 👍

If they sent you the bag to keep, then they did compensate you to make the review.
@NeemorsWorld5 жыл бұрын
Not quite how it works. I get a lot of free gear that doesn't make it to a review. After all, free backpacks don't pay the bills.
@sheltermonkey60655 жыл бұрын
@@NeemorsWorld And why do companies send you free gear? Anyway, it doesn't matter what my opinion is. The Federal Trade Commission says you have to disclose compensation. Free gear is compensation.

Have you ever considered using Peak Designs Capture or Capture pro for your camera?
@NeemorsWorld7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have considered it. back when I used a DSLR it would have made the most sense, but now with smaller cameras and with the huge mic I mount on the top it wouldn't be practical. I like the idea of them though.

@ChuckNoctis7 жыл бұрын
Neemor, would you go with strong mesh on the front pocket or the standard lycra mesh for a SWD pack?
@NeemorsWorld7 жыл бұрын
for a superior wilderness designs? I'm not that familiar with their stuff, but I don't like mesh pockets with the larger holes like on the HMG Windrider. I much prefer the look of a mesh like on this kumo and on the Palante Simple. I don't like when packs look like they have a fishnet full off goodies hanging off the back. I don't know if that even answered your question. :D
@ChuckNoctis7 жыл бұрын
It prolly don't have any practical use either. I just went ahead and changed to the smaller mesh. And it kinda looks better.

How works the AIR FLOW SITLIGHT CAMP SEAT ? still happy of it ?
@NeemorsWorld7 жыл бұрын
It works well. I usually put my Sleeping pad in the backpannel and dont use the airflow one, but if you kept the sleeping pad inside I can see it being a nice addition. It's definitely a huge improvement over the old closed cell foam version.

Thinner shoulder pads? Don’t think so. And the hip belt looks too anemic, too. that zip sternum strap will last how long before it snags or breaks? It’s getting to where the pack companies are trying to get creative to distinguish their product. Meh!
