Thrush | When to Worry | Parents

Watch as Parents Magazine shows when to worry about thrush! Are you spotting small white patches in your little one's mouth? He may be suffering from thrush, a common yeast infection in babies. It is actually not hard to treat. These signs may also indicate a bout of thrush in infants: white patches in the mouth, a shiny, red diaper rash, or fussy breastfeeding. His sore mouth could make feeding difficult and uncomfortable. If your baby is diagnosed with oral thrush, your doctor will probably prescribe an anti-fungal solution. It will clear up in a few days, but be sure to use the treatment for as long as it is prescribed! If you have red, itchy, or burning nipples, you may have the infection, too. Ibuprofen will help with any shooting pains after nursing, and the anti-fungal cream will treat the thrust symptoms. You may also need to pump for a few days until you heal. Thrush treatment is vital for preventing the infection from spreading back and forth between mom and baby!
