27.09.19 - No better outdoor products than Thule, bought my first Thule products back in 88 and could never fault them. At 60 we recently purchased a Wingbar roof rack, Upride MB Holder and a Hullavator kayak holder.

as of May 2020 in Toronto area, that very Thule rooftop upright bike rack you just watched in the video is priced at C$250+, but if you buy it from Volvo Toronto dealership, it's priced at C$140+ (Volvo carries Thule products under Volvo name. Exactly same products.)

Thule, i just bought 2 new in box 594XT from REI and after installing them I notice the main lock bar does not lay all the way flat like my previous 594XT did in the past. Is there some replacement updated parts that allow these racks to lay down completely when not in use, they still have about 10% more angle to lay down, looks a bit silly up on my van like I was too lazy to return the rack back to empty position.

Thule can you share the weight of bikes you use in your test program? Specifically wondering about the Sidearm bike carrier - do you test with heavy downhill mountain bikes (e.g. 18kg/40lbs)? The mountain bike used in the video is on the lighter side of things.

As seen in this video, our products go through exhaustive and demanding lab tests as well as real world testing. These rigorous tests ensure that the bike weight limits specified in the user manual can be fully trusted. For the Thule Sidearm 594XT specifically, this means bike weight limit of 37.5lbs when attaching to factory racks, and 50lbs when attaching to Thule or round bars.

How many bikes can be loaded onto roof rack system? Ideally if 4 would fit that would be perfect.

Graphicshiv Hi there, The answer to your question depends on your type of car, roof rack, bike carrier(s) and bikes, but with Thule roof mounted bike carriers you can normally transport 2 to 4 bikes on your car (in some cases even up to 5). Please note that you need to take into account the type and weight of your roof rack, what kind of bike carrier(s) you have, the maximum load capacity of your car roof, roof rack, and bike carrier, and the type and weight of your bikes. I tested that same rooftop upright bike rack (Thule 598) in Volvo brand name with my Volvo XC70. At first I was worried about the stability but actually no need to worry about that at all.
