You can unfortunately not open the boot when the bikes are mounted. But it´s possible with the carrier without bikes / Thule team

Do you need to uprate the gas struts when this bike rack is fitted to open the tailgate (without the bikes on) like you do with the VW version? And what is the difference in the WanderWay and the WanderWay 2?
