I grew up with this movie and now I'm 32 year old. Thumbelina sure had a lot of manipulative jerks trying to use her. She was only 15-16 years old, kidnapped and tossed around to different incompetent fools. The toads, the beetles and when Ms. Field mouse literally gaslit her into meeting Mr. Mole and trying to marry her off! How scary! I still enjoyed re-watching this movie, but it sure hits different now.

It's annoying how you have to mute the best songs, but I just love how everyone tells her "Don't Marry the Prince For Love, marry my son/the mole/ become the Beatle's girl for money, so you don't have to worry with the diapers, bills, cooking, etc." when marrying the PRINCE ensures she doesn't have to worry with any of that. Also, why can't his parents delay the Winter Frost for more than a day? They JUST changed the leaves last night.

This is the only version of the story that I recall even keeping you up to date on Thumbelina's mother. Most adaptations drop her mother off the face of the earth after Mother Toad snatches Thumbelina away. How/When was she supposed to leave a note? At least her mother was at the wedding in this version.

I believe, copy right reasons is why the movie turns off audio during songs. Here are the time stamps. 15:47 turns off. 18:15 turns back on. 25:36 audio shuts off. 28:13 audio turns back on. Turns off 33:08 and turns back on at 33:15
