Team Overkill are just killing every damn vlog nowadays. During S 1 I was like "This is the best vlog I have ever seen on KZbin, 11/10." During S 2 I'm like "Picking this instead of every other thing to watch in the whole fucking world, 16/10. I would say that the reason is because you guys are more professional and personal. I mean the editing, how you use the equipment and your skills really makes good vlogs when you work together as a team. But also when you are speaking about serious stuff that you care about, like today about mental coaching. These kind of subjects might not get as many views as car videos, instead those are inspiring young people to work hard and do things they "can't". Maybe most important is that I perceive you more as a professional person and a team member instead of a typical shallow youtuber. I am happy to say that you guys are outstanding in every category.

Jon, try using Final Cut Pro on your MacBook. It will be much much faster than Premiere Pro on the Dell. All the people that say Premiere is better obviously have never used Final Cut for any length of time. FCPx is so so much faster than Premiere on a Mac. You can add tons of pug ins to it, so when you have it set up the way you like it, it will have more tools in an easier suite to use. All the tech users who actually know what they're talking about (MKBHD, Unbox Therapy, Jonathan Morrison, Austin Evans, Karl Conrad, just to name a few..) all use Apple systems with Final Cut Pro X. Plus you can keep that beautiful lightweight and stylish MacBook.

I think the 80D is a good camera for the start. pro: really good autofocus, nice "canon" colors if you're not into grading, a lot of good canon lenses and a lot of good 3rd party lenses, easy to learn controls. contra: no 4k, only 50/60 frames slowmo, over image quality you can allways argue.. some people might say the image is not so good than others, low light is not the best, the price of canon is higher compared to other systems with equal specs I think. So yeah, in my opinion there is not much bad at the camera, if you don't need 4k. The most negative thing is, that a lot of the other brands push it more than canon these days.

Jon, any medium or large format camera has very narrow DOF due to large sensor e.g. head shot @ 10ft to target, 180 or 250mm portrait lens, you need F11 to F16 to be guaranteed sharp image across the eyes. You have the thickness (DOF) of a razor blade! This is why commercial studios use powerful strobe light. It's not uncommon to be working @ F96 !! on close up product shot.

I agree...it all depends on the lens they use. But the detail is probably epic with a sensor that size.

His current lens would roughly equal a 50mm in FF terms but not apples to apples because the ratio of Length vs Width is different (in laymen terms one is a bit longer of a rectangle, one is closer to a square crop and larger). And it's not epic.. The video quality is decent at best. If you just want the shallow DOF effect you're better off using a f/1.4 lens on FF like the A7sII or a f/1.2 lens (50/85 from canon) w/adapter on the A7sII. Or even the 50/0.95 although the CA is horrendous and really distracting in video, not to mention focusing is near impossible with shallow DOF. But for images the GFX isn't bad.. But I still recommend that Jon Olsson gets the 110/2 ASAP.

Been away for a short trip abroad, but the promised wifi in the apartment turned out to be a very shitty accesspoint that had a limit, so no vlogs this weekend!:( Luckily when I came back I enjoyed almost 1 full hour of JOVB! You guys really make my day and keep inspiring everytime! Only thing I still don't like is that GH5 "in camera stabilization"! Background tends to have a very ugly "warp" when there is sudden movement at times. It's not always there, but when it is it reminds me of the occassional huge fails of Premiere's Warp Stabilizer! Other than that, you guys are really golden! Benny is also doing great! Love the filming, editing and little trics he does throughout the vlog! It's just something an editor like myself can really appreciate in a video! Thanks for inspiring, motivating and positively influencing my days! Oh, quick question: I know Douchebags is your brand and you don't like to talk about other brands, but I was just wondering; what Thinktank bag you are carrying with you as carry-on? Now that you use PC, there is now reason walking with an open pc to render. Just stop the screen-"closeaction" and start render and put the pc away (if your pc supports it you can even shut off your screen like mac and save some energy). Have fun :)
