Looks a lot like Baraboo Quartzite to me! Which I love. It's abundant in central Wi in the Baraboo hills, but, was used heavily across the midwest for railways. Especially near Chicago. So, the location is right on. It's VERY pretty when it's all polished up! I always get mine from Lake Michigan, so, they're already pre tumbled ;)

Maybe the gasket blew out because off not being level? I just bought a vintage Sears 6 pound and running fist size stones. I noticed it wasn't completely level and the downside area is toward the lid, so I'm going to turn the barrel the other way to put the downside to the opposite side. I bet your stone would look cool displayed with a light source behind it or a window ledge to catch the sun. Take care.

I was 1 day away from buying the Thumler B2 and thanks to you I won't bother, you don't expect the Rubber Gasket to disintegrate when tumbling, sorry Thumler but that was highly disappointing, my thanks to ScannerGuy for saving me approx 400 bucks.

Yeah. It was a bummer but kinda my fault. That big rock pelted the gasket nonstop. I sold of had more media in. But still, it went fast

Wondering if this tumbler can be used to clean bullet casings?

They sell one for that but it spins faster than this one. Same thing but small pulley or the motor turns faster. But I'd think this one that is slower speed would work as well.
