@Andrew Evans Because the GM anticipated KD would go, they had a plan b unlike OKC and KD didn't wait until July 4th, but ALSO KD also almost screwed the warriors, 1) waited for top free agents to sign deals or commit before going to BKLYN 2) Warriors scramble to find a good return with D-Lo but KD force warriors to take Napier and another player for a sign and trade, doing this made the warriors go over the cap so they had to trade Iggy for his contract so KD screwed Igoudala over BIG TIME. No acknowledgement of OKC and what OKC did for him. (did he even thank GSW and fans for gifting him two championships and definitely gifting him 2 finals mvps?) And compound that with his momma coming on making noise, and what do you expect from fans? Those same comments KD made about fake tough guy and cupcakes about others, are made about him. I'm a huge OKC fan, have been since 2008. I think KD is a top 10 player of all-time, and I love watching him play basketball. But, KD's comments about the city and Presti is absolutely ridiculous. He left them high and dry with no return assets, and went to their arch rival and he expected fans to not be upset by that? Absolutely laughable. What was he expecting? He single-handedly crippled OKC and made the NBA nearly unwatchable for 3 years b/c the Warriors were unstoppable with the addition of KD. The OKC fans were supposed to welcome him back with open arms? GTFOH. If KD would have left for any other team, and allowed OKC to sign and trade him so they could get something for him, then the organization would've done a video and been more inviting upon his return. But he totally fvcked the organization by not allowing them to recoup assets. Paul George was only with the Thunder for 2 seasons, and he made sure the Thunder got assets out of his trade. They got SGA, Gallinari, and several draft picks. KD was with OKC for nearly 10 seasons and totally fvcked them over. OKC got absolutely nothing in return. And what's even more shady is that he led OKC on before going to GS. He basically said he was going to re-sign with OKC, then did that. He's an idiot for not expecting that the OKC fans would be bitter. What's sad is that his move to GS is still considered arguably the weakest move of all-time in sports history. So, while he got his coveted titles, everyone considers them cheap titles. Even after he won them, he said he didn't feel as validated as he thought he would. Also, had KD signed with OKC that year, they probably would've been the favorite to win the Title. Their Starting Five would've been 1. Westbrook 2. Oladipo 3. KD 4. Sabonis 5. Steven Adams

ken juan- He has a god complex, he's entitled and doesn't know how to deal with rejection. The same media who crucify him, basically compares him to Jesus himself, if he's winning. The guy is very troubled.

Had Kevin Durant left with class then this all would be different, fan wise. Oklahoman's know that not everybody wants to stay in OKC, they have the OU Sooners for Christs sake. People move on to bigger cities/markets all the time from OKC but they at least have the class to THANK the fans/city. Had Kevin Durant taken an ad in the paper or the radio, thanking fans. Had KD given OKC some sort of notice or even with the late notice - had he thanked the fans even when the decision was published on Jul 4; there would be no bitterness against KD at all. In fact, had he left with class, OKC likely would have retired his jersey, given him a statue, and still held him in high regard. Don't believe me? See Russell Westbrook, PG13, countless OU footballers (Brian Bozworth, Baker Mayfield, Adrian Pederson, Kyler Murray, Hollywood Brown, soon - Jalen Hurts, on and on), and basketballers (Blake Griffen, Taylor Griffen, Trae Young, etc). OU and OKC are used to the highest caliber of athletes coming through but all are regarded highly IF they leave with class (and most return at some point). Even LaBron James left Cleveland with class (still thanked the fans despite - The Decision) and then came back. KD did none of that in leaving, and his cupcake comments that he used to say about others (along with 'fake tough guy') has come back to haunt him since HE went from a sure championship team up 3-1 to choke then go to the team that he choked to. Easy to see why fans treated him like that but honestly I think most have moved on (no boos the last few times he was in OKC), it is KD who hasn't/wont. SO now OKC will surely get that statue of Westbrook out there and retire his 0 forever!

KD was a free agent. He had a right to go anywhere. KD didn't have a right to be in danger because of his decision. Nobody or team should have to hire extra security. GS did for that initial return to OKC. KD's mother was harassed during the first return game. Family should be off limits. As to having his jersey riddled with bullets, anyone who considers that normal fan reaction has bigger problems than being sports fans. Enough black men have been riddled with bullets in real life & time, to use that to demonstrate disapproval over a basketball player's decision to leave a team is troubling and dangerous. The sanitized version of events normalizes dangerous behavior. The reaction was obsessive and scary. KD wasn't their property. He earned free agency. Disagree with the decision but to endanger he and his family over it and to have sports media condone it is sick. This happened 4 years ago. Time to let it go.

Used to be a big fan of KD when he was in OKC. I can say, there's nothing that management wouldn't do for him, to say now that they've never been fair or real, that's low. I think the connection broke when they traded the coach, you could see KD and Westbrook were highly affected by that.

It’s called “FREE AGENCY” there is no Etiquette to what a player is supposed to and not supposed to do. These owners do what they want and the moment a player chooses to take his own path y’all wanna say what he should or shouldn’t be doing (ie what team he should play for) Like we’re individuals let them be individuals just bc certain hof players chose to do things a certain way doesn’t mean all players have to take the same approach. 🤦🏾♂️ if they have a problem do something about it and hire more talent until you reach your goal

I agree but also I don’t think that means people havee to be happy about it on either side When you’re beat player leaves to go to a rival people are gonna be upset Likewise when a team trades a player who doesn’t want to leave the player has a right to be upset It works both ways tbh
@daveceez244 жыл бұрын
Emery Bryan what does it matter where he went their is nothing that says a “FREE AGENT” can’t join a team that beat you in the playoffs regardless if they were up 3-1 3-0 even if they got swept.

@Jerms214 жыл бұрын
@espn what you didn’t mention is that Kyrie won a title in Cleveland. KD lost to the Western conference champs, joined them, then proceeded to throw shade at how he couldn’t have won a title in OKC... told fans he had to make the decision that was best for him, so sorry. They burned Lebron’s jersey in Cleveland for less so not really sure how he thought it would go down. He seems to leave everywhere complaining about something. The grass hasn’t been greener so far, at least not for him

For the 9(!) seasons KD was by far the best player of this team. He in fact is the best player of OKC of all times. It's a SHAME what was organized by Presti for KD after his departure. Who might possibly trust his words today? Lie, hypocrisy and malice. "Politics".

OKC needs to have a coaching staff change. These guys had 3 MVPs. And if you look at the time they went to the finals 2012. I was looking like the next era is upon NBA. Aside injuries, you need to have a system that can adapt around all those three/two and still go ahead. Even with Brook and Paul, the system was not able to counter to the opponents even though everyone was playing hard and giving it all.

I'm the first to admit KD is hella sensitive but I can't believe OKC didn't give him a tribute video and I can't believe they let a rookie have his number. You can call KD a snake and you put asterisks next to his championships but you can't deny what he did for OKC. He took that team far, there is no reason why they should've treated him that way.

As an OKC Fan and local I can say, yes we overreacted a bit when KD left. But at the same time we were one win away from the NBA Finals and the next year looked even better before KD left. KD could've shot someone and the OKC community would've covered it up for him. The man was seen as a god here. He will never admit it, but the real reason KD left for the Warriors is because of past injuries to his foot and OKC's ISO style of play was wearing on him.
