I saw the single this came from in a record store ONCE and only once. 20 years later I still regret not getting it.

@terminalharmony You'll find KMFDM as one of the best, and longest lasting, industrial metal bands out there. Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, they all owe their success to KMFDM.

@babttb6123 KMFDM, Ministry, Skinny Puppy and others paved the way for Trent. So while he MAY not have actually been influenced by them directly (but he probably was) he definitely owes some of his success to them.
@MagnitudePerson4 ай бұрын
Except he was influenced by them, Trent is a shit rip-off artist. His music is trash compared to even the worst output from KMFDM; Ministry; Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly etc He's a loser

@moonflow23 actually KMFDM can owe some of it's American success to Ministry, since their American debut was touring with Ministry in 1990. And sound-wise I think you could say that Ministry influenced KMFDM a bit more towards that heavy thrash/industrial sound.

I know I'm digging up old crap with this, but: Ministry, KMFDM, Pigface, Front 242, Revolting Cocks, Coil, and a whole host of other industrial acts found their home in Chicago's WAX TRAX! label. It was a techno-industrial fan's wet dream and the label's Black Box collection is one of the coolest things you've never heard. Wax Trax! was practically a family, and all these artists encountered each other constantly and collaborated with regularity. To say that any of them owe anything to each other as far as their sound is simultaneously an understatement and a mis-characterization of what it was like to be on the Wax Trax! imprint. Trent was there, with Ministry's Al Jourgensen, recording the "1000 Homo DJ's" album, both of them using aliases because they were contractually obligated elsewhere. Everyone on the label would have frequent interface with Atkin's and Reiflin's revolving-door-membership supergroup Pigface and almost everyone appears somewhere on a RevCo record. Sadly, in 1992, Wax Trax was financially destitute and was purchased by TVT. While Wax Trax!'s founders retained temporary creative control over the label, the writing was on the wall, and as soon as Nash and Flesher were out of the picture (2001), TVT discovered, with glee, that neither of the founders was very good at writing contracts. Almost every artist who had been on the label up to that point had signed a contract that was VERY bad for the artist because it had been written so loosely. Under Nash and Flesher's reign, it hadn't been a problem because they were there to create and publish music and genuinely cared about the artist's well being. Unfortunately, TVT's founder, Steven Gottleib's focus was, and continued to be, profit above all else. Many artists, like Sister Machine Gun, found that TVT was more than willing to interpret those contracts in a way that robbed the artist of all proceeds and royalties. While many acts moved on and continued to produce music for TVT after their contracts expired, renegotiating their new contracts at a disadvantage to get access to their back royalties and pay, many were absorbed by the various octopus arms of either Warner or Universal and either got wrecked by their new parent company's constant focus on homogenizing and diluting the industrial sound or eventually escaped to form their own labels like Nothing Records or KMFDM, etc. Fortunately, TVT gasped it's last breath in 2009. Unfortunately, it's properties were purchased by "The Orchard", a subsidiary of Sony, so the artists under that label are probably still getting fucked out of their royalties and will continue to until Sony manages to somehow fuck this up as well. The point is: The Wax Trax! days were a more innocent time. Nobody "paved the way" for anyone. They carried each other like brothers.
