Even in the 60s i wondered who actually built Tracey island and did they not wonder why they were building launch pads etc ,,?

For the 60s show, I think they just gave some excuse to get people to do most of the work, and finished if themselves - there's a video on this in the official Gerry Anderson channel. For the 2015 show, the island is an extinct volcano, so they didn't need to mine anything out and just needed to add the infrastructure, which it's believable that they just got some robots to do it.

Actually the only craft we never saw landing on Tracy Island was Shadow. All the other we did actually see the landings and return to the launch bay (or in the case of Thunderbird 4 returning to the pod and the recovery of the pod) during the show. Now the removal of the flight gear and the travel back up to the lounge area was the dispatch footage run in reverse.
