Love me a bit of Mongor. You're right about his escape from that tomb, it is similar to the ghost of Grune being freed from his tomb by the Balkans. Mongor and Grune are two of the coolest villains in the whole show. Ratar-O is actually the real leader of the mutants for me. I know that he wasn't around much but when he was, he took charge. He was a lot more formidable than the other mutants. He was actually taken seriously, which I like. He don't take no crap.

The colours in Thundercats were always good so any figures we get from that show were bound to pop. A lot of the character designs were very toyetic so this franchise needs a toyline. For a long time it didn't and that left a void in the toy market, in my opinion. Thundercats toys are fun for Thundercats fans but I think that they are fun for toy collectors in general. These figures are similar to MOTUC but with the villains often being quite tall, I think that they also go well with the newer MOTU figures. The size of the figures in Thundercats Ultimates are a lot more varied than MOTUC. There seemed to be even more re-use in the MOTUC line than what there is in this one. It's probably a bit more difficult to get away with in a Thundercats line. I remember when Bandai did 8 inch classics and we only got two characters. At the time, I remember thinking "How on earth are they going to do Mumm-Ra The Ever-Living in this toyline? He would have to be huge. Are they really going to do a highly articulated figure that is larger than the two figures we've already received? How much would it cost?" The 8 inch line was being sold at retail as well, the same as the other lines. It seemed unrealistic and when we got the 6 inch version of Mumm-Ra, we saw that they were never going to give us the Mumm-Ra that we wanted because the quality simply wasn't there. They did a good job with 8 inch Lion-O but I think that Mumm-Ra The Ever-Living was beyond them. This is why we needed a Thundercats toyline done in this style and this scale. We ended up getting a good rendition of Mumm-Ra The Ever-Living in this toyline but that is because realistically, it was doable. Mongor needed a similar treatment and luckily, he got it.

@@HappyPursuits I just purchased Bandai versions of both Lion Os even evil version with Tygra. May get more later
