Spawn is bad ass. Also his rogue's gallery of villains is equally incredible too, many iconic characters. Also his powers, the suit adjusts itself to his battle conditions, so does his magic and his will to fight. That's probably why he turns into a overpowered character depending no battle conditions.

People "dodging light" almost never actually means they move at the speed of light. The writers aren't actually thinking to themselves "he moves faster than light to dodge the light" they just think "he's dodging an attack".

Very true. A lot of people extrapolate feats a bit too far to make things work. My favorite example is when people try to ascribe lightsaber forms to the movies. Like, cmon, Ray Park wasnt worried about fucking Shii Cho nerds

It's not in that concept. Light in space moves faster in space then it does on any planet. Though it is slower in space...it will still be super fast it is still the fastest thing on planet. Being able to Dodge light beams is still super fast.

I haven't read any of the comics so I only have the info in this video... Does he actually dodge the beams of light, or does he dodge the attack as/before it's shot? In other words, he sees the person raising their arm to shoot light beams and he dodges so that those light beams won't hit him, or do the light beams start to travel and then he gets out of the way?

Think of it this way, which is faster: dodging a bullet, or simply not being in the bullets line of fire because you dodged the gunners aim?

Its incredible how much the comic, and Spawn's power set, have progressed over the years. I remember reading some of the earliest issues back in '93-'94 as a tween shortly after reading all of Todd's run on Venom. It was a whole new, dark world of comic books for me, but I loved how Spawn often blurred the lines between Dr. Strange-esque mysticism and 'street hero' Spiderman-esque story beats. The power scales might have changed but Al Simmon's conflicts feel consistent with his character, and its refreshing that they chose to never walk back his powerset the way they have other comic book heroes. Is there any particular runs worth reading this late into Spawn's run? Or any good jumping on points for someone who never stuck with them past the mid-90's?

To my knowledge the best scaling for omega spawn is a statement that he is equal to malebolgia, but he is also only a considered a fraction of current spawn’s being, so current spawn is actually stronger than malebolgia.

A couple years ago I bought an issue of Spawn from a comic store and instantly fell in love with it. I wished I could know more about this character. Now that hunger has been satisfied... at least for a while. I dunno. I was the kid who only read Donald Duck in his youth when everyone else read Spiderman comics. Now the comic stores are gone and regular stores have Minecraft, Fortnite and Princess magazines instead of Archie comics. Oh well. I could probably find/order a couple issues online if I wanted to. Maybe I will.

So funny thing is spawn had a "reasonable balance at the start" he had a limit to how much he used his power, but could do alot of things, that at the start. I started buying this comic when i was a kid, (teenager) and yeah spawn is an edgy teens dream come true. It doesn't age very well, their are some neat ideas, but you can also tell this a atheist trying to interpret heaven and hell (Todd mcfarlane). It's very obvious in damn near every issue.
