I know this video is 4 years old now, but for new viewers I have a tip. If the area you have to work in happens to be covered by stones or just dirt, you can make your own temporary smooth floor! I have to do most of my wrenching outside & after getting tired of engine hoist, engine stand, & floor jack wheels constantly getting stuck or sinking, I went to home depot & bought 4 4'×8' 3/4" thick pieces of pressure treated plywood . I can now drive or push whatever I am working on onto my plywood floor! Now all my equipment can roll freely, & I no longer utter long curse phases anymore & I can also roll around on a creeper & not have stones digging into my back!

Man I thought of you yesterday when what got in front of me was an unmistakable 1966 like yours. I know the difference between the '65 and '66 taillights and I immediately thought of you! I can't even remember what year I've ever seen a running '66 about town. Now, seems we have one. Love that look buddy!

Nice truck. My father and uncle bought one brand new in 72 for 2100 or 2200 .. Truck was exactly like this truck. Except it was solid brown, no two tone. Loved that gas tank behind the seat, back when there was real gas stations. I could pull in give the attendant a 10 he would hand me the gas pump handle . I would pump the gas and not even get out of the truck...

I worked for Standard Oil on The Indiana Toll Road in the late 1970s and was a pump jock also. Full Service and at a full service truck stop also early 80s doing same thing. Only on Semi's!

Did a similar lift, new hoist in sandy ground, dressed 460/C6( 1976 supercab F250 longbox) ,Just as I was going to pull the truck away standing at the front, and heard what sounded like a bullet whiz, and the engine dropped fully back in-no damage, to me or the stuff. I stopped and redid it the next day with an old heavier chain, with safety wrap-no problem.

b4 you reasemble,,lay a main bearing in the block(main saddle) now note only 1/2 the hole shows,,,chamfer the bearing saddle toward the hole in bearing...also put a restrictor in the head oil galley to the rocker assembly..some people tap the hole in the head to put a carb jet in for a restrictor,, my dad just bolted the head on the block and took steel dowel rod and drilled a 1/8 inch hole in it then dropped it in the hole,,cut to length of course...now you can run 7000 rpm all day and not spin a bearing...leave it the way it is and you WILL spin a bearing at 6000..also buy a good set of isky valve springs so you eliminate valve floating..I have a lot more tips..

Im commenting before I've watched the entire thing so I may find more info after I've commented but I've never seen this video of yours. I see its from 5 yrs ago. Its really nice looking truck. I love these old trucks. I have a 71 f100 shortbox 4x4. It looked like a 360 from the pistons I could see. They are also high compression 390 pistons but I see your engine had a 2bbl. Mine has a 360 as well but mine is a 4sp with a Dana 21 one speed transfer case. 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Thats all its got. No natural no 4 low. But the axle are 4.11 gear (in the 9 inch) factory. Thats the first time I've seen a half ton ford have that low of a gear from factory. Anyway I love these trucks but if I dont cut it here I could go on & on. So, catch you on the flip side!

All Ford Big Blocks separate like that. You can take a 360. Put a 427 crank in it. And brig that 360 to life.

Out of curiosity Mr. Luke. Whatever happened to this old truck? Was there a follow up video that i may have overlooked? Really dig these old trucks like this. My parents had a 71 model that was pretty similar to this one when i was a kid. I wanted it badly but they didn't think it would have been a good "first truck" for me way back then. @ThunderHead28910 жыл бұрын
Jimi Hendrix its a 360. how they made them was by taking a 390 block and a 352 ford crank and rods with special taller pistons. the 390 is way better and what we built to put in the truck. it was my fathers truck and now for some reason he decided to sell the engine for 2800. just hauled it out yesterday. nice profit, but now we need to build another. might put in a small block.

We swapped a rebuilt 390 with a towing cam home ported heads flowtech full length headers and top loader 3 spd into our 69 and it was a great truck but we ran into bad times and lost it to a tow company :""""( now that we have recovered i miss it ;( first gear at 2300 would flex the frame and make beautiful deep window rattling noises.

ThunderHead289 It was a great motor and Trans if you do not mind a long throw from first to second then back to third. It had a cam that we did not have specs for but it made no less than 450 ft pnds to ? low down to around 3000 rpm then just fell off like a cliff. We had alot of problems with the holley 750 double pump after a few shops we took it to that wanted us to take it off and bring it to them AED said "bring the truck here" and after they did their magic for only half what the last shop charged it would one wheel wonder in third :] Props to AED in Chesterfield VA
