Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Most artists take the structure of a Major influential band (in this case, maiden) and adapt those things that they think you can take to the next level, then blaze your own trail. Suffice to say, Love bites have done that.Unfortunately they have not grasped the market share that they deserve. Miho did an interview on KZbin a few days ago and she's Pretty much implied that the mistake they made was not releasing high-quality covers in the Genre, before releasing original material. She sang the praises of Nemophilia, who she says are the 1st Japanese metal band to gain enough popularity in the US to get called up to perform their. Nemo pretty much only released covers, before releasing original material.Ironically, easily the most popular covers, gaining miillions of views are "aces high" and "the trooper" by Iron Maiden. Very soon after that Love bites released painkiller and Eagle. Fly free, as their 1st 2 covers.Since then Miho has left the band, and is exclusively doing covers with other Japanese artists Funny how life has these little ironies,Isn't it

Thanks for reacting to amazing Lovebites and spreading the word; they deserve more recognition Welcomed to the mind-blowing world of Lovebites. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. They really shine in their live performances. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Angra, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Currently the band is in the process to announce the new bassist. In an interview, Miho (ex bassist) said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. My next suggestions are “Break the wall”, “The Awakening/Hammer of wrath”, “Set the world on fire”, “Shadowmaker”, “Raise some hell”, “Scream for me”, “When destinies align”, “The crusade”, “Frozen serenade”, “Spellbound”, “Don’t bite the dust”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “Edge of the world”, “Epilogue”. For piano: “Swan song”, “Empty daydream” (all live). Lineup: Haruna - Drums Miho - Ex Bass, backing vocals Midori - Lead & rhythm guitar, backing vocals Miyako - Lead & rhythm guitar, keyboards, classical piano, backing vocals Asami - Lead vocals, some piano

Their talent is always on display and my only issue - if you can really call it an issue - is that Miho, the bass guitarist who left the band in 2021, wasn't featured musically as often as I would have liked. I would say that since I'm primarily a bass player, though.

Amazing as this may sound, Lovebites has barely surfaced in Japan, let alone the rest of the world. It’s thanks to reaction channels that I stumbled upon them almost two years ago, and it’s reaction channels that will be their greatest advertisement. They were formed in 2016 by the bass player, a big fan of Steve Harris. The sound she wanted was a more thrashier Maiden. Since then they have just advanced exponentially in musical terms, yet it’s all metal. A good example is this very track. There is a live version from a Covid restricted show in Tokyo a little over 12 months after this. The improvement is noticeable. And this from a band whose catalogue stood at 3 albums and 2 EP’s when this version you watched was recorded. Personally, I think your next Lovebites reaction should be “Epilogue” (link below). It showcases them at the other extreme of their range, and then there are over 40 more songs that are between those two points. I’m 62, and they are, without question, and I’m proud to say this without a second’s hesitation, THE best band, in every sense of the word, that I have ever heard. My life now basically revolves around them, news of them and, every evening (U.K. time) I check out new reactions and encourage further support of the ladies because the fact they aren’t household names should be a matter for the U.N. ! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHqke4x4qtp-fa8

Nemos 2 Iron Maiden covers the "aces high" and "the trooper", have collectively got 4.5 million views. Compare that to Love bites, who then get near to 1,000,000 views in any of their videos, despite releasing far superior original material. Marketing yourself cleverly, s everything. I think the team let them down on this 1. She Left the Band, MIHO is now exclusively doing covers with other artists

@@alekhidell Come on mate, give her a break. didn't you know that her father died, she's been trying to cope with it and staying with love bites for the last few months, before departure, so it wasn't sudden or with acrimony. it's a shame, but even though the other members are great songwriters in their own way, their entire structure was based on the bass driven, twin guitar feed off, from maiden as stipulated by both Miho and Haruna, at the outset.Maybe some of the other members wanted to take it more progressive because, unless only because of their roots, which as also hastened the departure.If Miyako wants to take it in this direction as the main songwriter now, you will find that they will bomb into oblivion Check out some of her interviews and you will find that Miho, is not just a badass bassist, but has a great leadership mindset and brilliant breakdown of what works in structure.The band have been very lucky to have her vision, because she has said in interviews that a grounding in the classic metal structure, all instruments tailored to the synergy of the completed song, and theatrical performance, are what breed success.She says that In japan, there are 2 many bands that focus too much, on technical excellence and reach into oblivion.She also states that most professional artists can produce technical excellence, of the highest level, given time, should they wish to do so, but bands such as maiden, and priest reined that in, to focus on a better listening experience for the fans, instead of selfish, boring, meaningless, self-indulgence trading. Providing consistent brilliant quality listening experience, instead of indulging shredding, is far more difficult As for the covers.I understand why you might see this as superficial, but it's just clever marketing.In this way, their production and marketing team have let them down by not thinking of this in the 1st place, to make fans of their genre aware of them,, and intrigued before they release original material. Do you really think it's a coincidence that she releases an interview rickets praising Nemophila's emergence, just a few days ago and Nemo released high-quality covers of "aces high" and "the trooper", then all of a sudden love bites release their "1st" covers. After already existing as a band for 5 years, and those covers are literally the 2 bands that inspired love bites, 2nd only to maiden. Also, those 2 covers from Nemo alone, got nearly 4.5 million views between them, at this point, whereas love bites, who produce. "far superior" music to Nemo, in their originals, barely get 1milldon views, on their best, most popular songs like this.Considering Nemo have literally only just started doing live performances; They are also the only Japanese group that had, enough popularity, in the US that they were called upon to play their recently.Working This must be a real kick in the teeth. I think if love bites had done this originally they would have twice the audience they have now.how many comments do you see here that says "I just found out about this band.".Love bites deserve a massive audience and they have been marketed poorly

I love priest, but the entire structure of this band's music is based on maiden. Miho was very specific about that. If you listen to the recent interview by Miho, she was very enthusiastic about Nemophilas(Japanese Girl metal band) growth in the American market and implied that it was a better idea to start with high quality interpretations of covers. Easily Nemo's 2 most popular covers are Iron maidens. "Aces Hi,gh" and "the trooper",, getting millions of views in a shorter space of time than lovebites get fewer views, on their videos, Despite releasing inferior Self Written songs to lovebites.Pretty soon after this lovebites came out with "painkiller" and "Eagle fly free", doing covers for ththe 1st time.Now Miho has left and is exclusively doing covers for the time being, with friends It's pretty safe to say, that if Nemo had not released their maiden covers, love bites would have done it

Thanks to Pentagenarian--I think he just discovered this band in the last few days and clearly they had an impact. Now: Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: Their most recently posted live clips, “Set the World on Fire” kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2rdpHtsnqySbMU and “Don’t Bite the Dust” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXnRfHp7n5Z2g8U, which are both from their recently released concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2TXohjrtB9ebc They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc. Miyako is also a professional-level concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLpaSdnr14d5Y. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWGVYpSGZ8aibLs includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPQoJ-kaqyrq9U This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn2plp9_bpiJoa8 "Glory to the World" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6itpXdojaqLfpY "Winds of Transylvania" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo. You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Welcome to the Lovebites show!! Miyako & Midori are the best guitar duo going today, if not ever. Your reference to Maiden (heavier/better) - perfect. I've been listening to metal since I heard Zeppelin in 1971. Lovebites is my favorite band. If you like pure thrash, three more songs from this same amazing concert - Break the Wall (thrashiest most Slayeresque song): kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4HGYYuBZdGBo7c The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath (encore opening): kzbin.info/www/bejne/paWti4OLeNysha8 Thunder Vengeance (concert opening): kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4ioaIOneNV6n5Y

"Heavier Iron Maiden" is a good description for Lovebites. Listen to The Crusade or Golden Destination from them. Both are even more Iron Maiden-esque songs. But that's also only a small part of what they have to offer. There is a huge amount of variety to be found in their discography.

LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics: Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood People live in fear, covered in mud Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for sisters There is a thousand, a thousand of evils Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for brothers Shining blade and burning heart Into the Gates of Hell we march Immortal soul, let there be light Into the Eye of Heaven Eagles at a holy war Fly higher than the sun We are one for all and all for one forevermore SOLO: midori Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall Reincarnation, wait for your call Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for sisters Morning star and dying moon Into the Gates of Hell we march Mighty soul, let there be hope Into the Eye of Heaven Eagles at a holy war Fly higher than the sun Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal What do we live for?What do we fight for, tonight? But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for Only have one thing on our mind Facing the fate, holy war SOLO: miyako / midori / both Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty We are the metal warriors Fighting the darkness for brothers Shining blade and burning heart Into the Gates of Hell we march Immortal soul, let there be light Into the Eye of Heaven Eagles at a holy war Fly higher than the sun We are one for all and all for one forevermore What do we live for?What do we fight for, tonight? Iron Maiden is an influence of theirs. When you made a comment on on the arms of their guitarist, you had a good eye. Midori is actually a bodybuilder. I'm glad you've been bitten by them. Welcome to The Wolfpack. If you'd like to do another...pick anyone, lol

Just going to put this out there. I've been a fan of Japanese music for about 10 years, and I can tell you... that Japan has some of the absolute best music in the world. Under rated, unknown, etc. They do have the best all female bands.. hands down. I'm 61, not much shocks me anymore. I've been going to concerts since 1975, most recent was last Tuesday (One Ok Rock-Japanese, and Bloodywood-Indian). I've seen hundreds of band over the last 40_+ years...and Japan has some of the best musicians on the planet. If you're missing your 'list', believe me, fans can line them up for you.
@ThunderRooster2 жыл бұрын
We have not done One Ok Rock, but Bloodywood is amazing!! What was one of the most shocking band you came across?
@cookiemobers56502 жыл бұрын
@@ThunderRooster I wouldn't say shocking, I mean I was in the Southern California punk scene since the early 80s. Bloodywood has an amazing amount of energy, and positivity, that probably puts them in the top 10 or so. If you haven't watched any Dir en Grey, I highly recommed them. They've been around since 1997, and the singer Kyo will probably just blow your mind. I suggest any of the live performances from the Arche album, it's possibly one of their greatest live shows ever.

It was cool to see you guys check out this gem of a band. They're not as widely known in the West as some other foreign bands but are so talented. So I know Ron doesn't like power metal normally, but have either of you heard of Unleash the Archers? Brittany Slays is absolutely ridiculous and I think you guys would love the guitar solos they do. They also have great videos that can be comedic at times. I'd start with Abyss if you haven't checked them out yet just to see if their structure of power metal maybe resonates a bit better with you Ron. All of their albums tell a story too which is pretty awesome.

If you like thrash try Set The World On Fire live by them. Big 4 caliber, and way better than a lot of what they've put out in the past decade. In fact, if set the world on fire was done by the big 4 or Testament likely be considered the best thrash song of the decade. It's got the Testament gallops combined with Dragonforce solos...off the F chain. Miyako (dark-haired lead) is 4mos pregnant during the show shredding Dimebag's dean for God sake. You have to check it out!!

Good catch eye! First, Midori is a gym freak and has even entered body-building competitions during the band's hiatus. Secondly, Dean didn't have woodgrain models (like Miyako wanted) and it was custom-made for her as she is endorsed by Dean.

The fun has just begun. When I retired 5 years ago couldn't find anything worth listening to on the radio here in San Diego and then my CD player went sneakers up so couldn't listen to my Black Sabbath etc al... Then I discovered that rocked and die It just got itself a visa and moved to Japan. Daughter showed me Babymetal which led me to Band-Maid, Lovebites, Aldious, Mary's Blood, NEMOPHILA, Doll$Boxx, Hagane, Passcode, Hanabie... Keep up with listening to love bites anything or everything is extremely excellent. If you want to diverge a little try Band-Maid. Did I hear right You like drums... Try the song FREEDOM, live. A most happy drum solo.

I enjoyed your reaction to this great band. I love seeing the shock on people's faces when they see them for the first time. Since one of you don't care for power metal, you might want to check out some of their thrash songs. A couple of suggestions for you: "Set the World on Fire," and "Break the Wall" ( will remind you of Slayer with an Iron Maiden type break in the middle." FYI... they've been on hiatus for about a year and a half because their bass player quit the band. Yesterday (Oct. 21st) they introduced their new bass player. She's only 20 years old but is considered a prodigy on the bass. It should be illegal for one band to have 4 musicians of this quality. Peace!

GREAT reaction video dudes. I like how Lovebites takes the 80's to mid-90's Speed/Thrash Metal and gives Homage to their predecessors while STILL incorporating their own personal style and making the music their own. I also like how both guitarists (Miyako and Midori) use their own different styles of playing to push each other to even greater heights. It's basically like if Kerry King from Slayer in there early days and Kirk Hammett from Metallica in their early days were on stage together, and yet Miyako and Midori still incorporate their own unique style setting themselves apart. You guys should check out the live version of Set The World on Fire. In my opinion Lovebites not only set the bar on what modern Heavy Metal should be/sound like, but Lovebites ARE the bar. But regardless, again great reaction video. Oh and by the way, you guys have a new subscriber.

Kinda takes your breath away, huh!! This is an excellent intro performance but are better; "Set the World on Fire" and "Swan Song with Etude Chopin" both are live. Miyako's Dean has been customized, By Her. Custom Fishman pickups and converted to active vs passive. Just to make you feel worst Miyako is self taught on the guitar. She has been playing piano since she was 3 yo!! There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan, about half all Female. So you have a lot catching up to do. Some suggestions: Band Maid - "Freedom" They are on tour in the US Now. Nemophila - "Dissension". Playing at the Aftershock Festival now. Unlucky Morpheus - "Black Pentagram" Aldious - "We Are" Mary's Blood - "Marionette" Hanabie - "We Love Sweets" You will need seat belts.
