Mark, thank you for filming and posting this. Watched it from start to finish and could've watched for hours. Eerily satisfying! Glad you are a weather enthusiast who can now check off "Thunder Snow" from your list. It was a beautiful scene in your yard, Man.

Twice in my life...once when i was a kid delivering newspapers...about 5:45 am...always been a weather nerd...sky was a sickly green...just two or three flashes and a boom or two...confused the heck out of me...got over a foot of snow, school canceled and i dug out a kid’s weather book and found out about thundersnow...weirdest and coolest thing i ever experienced...🤔...in a meteorlogical sense that is...then a few years ago during a monster Nor’easter, brought 36”, my second one...late at night...same thing...snow has to be coming down at lest 2” an hour for it to work...it was cool...love your reaction...reminded me of Jim Cantore...from Weather Channel...😊

I live in Beaverton and I saw the lightning twice. I could hear the thunder in your video but it was distant. I was out in the snow when it took place. I thought at first it was a transformer but I saw a flash of light followed by another within 30 seconds. I didnt really hear thunder but it was windy but I heard a lot of transformers popping but I assume once or twice it was thunder. Freakin bad ass video dude!!!
@MilwaukeeMark8 жыл бұрын
Michael Rajkovich Your description matches my video pretty closely. You can see a second flash after the first and it's clear it happened miles away. In fact, I saw the thunderstorm potential on radar over Beaverton and that's why I started recording! Awesome independent verification!

Have seen and heard it twice..first was good few years ago - Friday night, went clubbing and it was bone dry, didn't even feel that I cold? DJ later announcing heavy snow out! We carried on til 2am only to leave and find a good 18cm of deep powdery snow, still ongoing! Suddenly the skies lit up and boom the thunder. It sounded like a drum echoing across the sky almost hollow sounding? Then a second big flash... Incredible night. Drive home proved tricky too in all that snow. Second not quite dramatic, daytime cold front passage ushered in much colder air, typical rain to snow event in literally minutes! Few flashes then a few cm of the white stuff. Cheers for sharing ; ) that snow sure was torrential lol..

Dale Lawrence I definitely thought I heard thunder in the moment but it was distant. That's why there's the pause in my excitement. No denying the lightning though. Power remained on in the neighborhood but you're right, anything is possible.

That's what makes Thundersnow so impressive and such a bad name all at once. The snow muffles the sound of thunder for miles so the lightning is almost silent.

I saw this as a kid in the 70s. Nothing new. Maybe one flash in a storm. I've never experienced an actual thunderstorm while it snowed though. Seems to be happening more in some places. Signs in the heavens.

Spettacolo assolutamente bellissimo, mi rende molto triste che questi scenari bellissimi spariranno per colpa nostra, per come abbiamo rovinato la terra e il clima. Che peccato. Sperando ha un miracolo che cambi le cose.

I hate to have to point this out, but what you recorded would more accurately be called "Lightning Snow". For it to be thundersnow, we really would need to hear thunder. Unless there was thunder and your camera just didn't pick up the sound?
@MilwaukeeMark8 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing and I waited to hear the thunder. I'm pretty sure the thunder is there, but if not, SNOW LIGHTNING!!!
@sportscarclinic8 жыл бұрын
I hate to point out that it is 'technically' referred to as "thundersnow" and it was (always is) accompanied by thunder. If you are going to take the time to correct someone, at least know what you are talking about.
@JohnnyTriplesticks8 жыл бұрын
If it weren't for the thunder you can hear in the video, you would have a point.
