Great review. I own both pairs. There are two notable differences in my opinion. 1. The toe box is quite a bit wider and more round on the president than the sleek silhouette of the Captain. Secondly, the leather upper is noticeable thicker and a little more supple on the President boots. Just thought I would mention that as I didn’t catch that in your video. Both great boots!

Just bought chukkas and captains. I’m a size 13 or 48 European. Bought both in a 13. I think the US sizing is a tad smaller than European and both are absolutely perfect. Based in Sweden so make sure you get the pre paid import fee shipping option which did save some money.

I normally wear size 9, 8.5 in steel toe boots. I bought 8.5 and had to return for a 9 which fits much better. Don't kill your feet guys, boots should be comfortable

Picked up a pair of The Presidents for $25 seconded hand. I wish I had the money to buy 4 more pair new. They do feel like wearing tennis shoes. Living in Az I wear cowboy boots most but Thursday Boots are so much more comfortable.

Just bought one in a size 10 as they mentioned half size down from regular size. It’s like so tight maybe I should try wide size 10? Or keep 10 and break it in?

Ok. So I just got my president boots. I wear size 9 sneakers and size 9 dress shoes like double monk strap. I’m confused to whether to exchange it for size down which is an 8.5. I feel like there’s a bit of room in the front. I really need help with this. I do own a sneaker from Thursday which is 8.5. Feel a little small. So what should I do? Thank you.

I have the Captains in matte black and rugged tobacco. I also got a pair of Chelsea boots.... and the vanguard. Feel free to review as much of thrusday boots as you want.... as I thought about buying their hiking ones 😅

If you take these boots to get resoled, can a cobbler put the same sole on your boots, or is it proprietary and you have to get something different?

The sole isn't all that awesome. It's a softer cooy of Dainite, so you could just getbthe original. As an alternative, Vibram also makes a good studded sole

Took a deep dive on the sizing and found a thread that said if you have a wide foot go a full size down on your regular sneaker size and select the wide version. I followed the advice and hoping the sizing fits perfect.

Let us know how it goes. I just got mine at half size down reg width, it's really comfortable but it does have a little extra room. It's perfect when worn with thicker socks.

I like the new location of this video, way to branch out. You do have a nice loft though...Thursdays in my opinion are the best made boots for the price. Fit and quality re really good. I am looking to try a pair of Helm boots from Texas...I wonder, have you tried them..?

I think the Wolverine BLVD collection is easily a much better boot. Much better sole, build quality, and a removable foot bed. Thursday Boots selling point has become the variety of leathers. But, they began is the “best boot for $200’, which they no longer are, IMHO.

If you’re between 9 and a 9.5 in boots, I would try the 9.5. If you’re between 9 and 9.5 I sneakers, try the 9. I go down a half size for mine (from sneakers) and they fit great, but a touch more snug than other boots like red wing or wolverine

there's no cons---it's really just a style thing. Both the Captain and President fit exactly the same, and the Captain cap toe is triple stitched, so it's super unlikely there'll be any problems there. I think guys with longer feet might prefer cap toe because it sort of breaks up the length visually. Guys with smaller feet might want to opt for plain toe as it has a slight "elongation" effect, but that's about the extent of it.

A cap toe was originally put on boot, particularly work boot, as it would wear out faster then any other part of the boot allowing the boot to repaired at minimal cost. I think shoes/boots that don't have cap toes tend to crease across the vamp more than shoes/boots without cap toes, therefore I prefer cap toes.

I prefer the Presidents over the Captains because of the option to go with no speed hooks on some models. But, my favorite style is the best of both worlds, the Vanguard. It is a cap toe boot with no speed hooks. However, it is not quite as tall as the Presidents and Captains.

I wear a size 10 in Puma's and my Thursday's are an 8.5. I ordered a size 9 at first and they were too big. The 8.5 is so perfectly snug its like they're hugging my feet.

Really? I thought the leather was quite thick and decent quality. Im still breaking in my Captains, and it ain't easy. I had an easier time breaking in Red Wing Blacksmiths. Overall, it's a decent boot. Definitely an upgrade from fast fashion.

In this new "hybrid" category of men's boots combining work\casual designs, this one, in my opinion, is skewed too far on the extreme side of casual. Just not really a boot. At least, not for me.
