I am not Christian or associate with any particular religion for that matter. What a powerful, enlightening, and an eye opening perspective. You've confirmed my belief that we are all first and foremost a human race. Thank you for the education and opening my mind to thinking/viewing race in a whole different way.

I'm not Christian or even a Deist but want Pastor Polite's message to visit every school and club and association in America. His scholarship is pretty much unassailable and his conclusions are too. Maybe he can deputize a few hundred more speakers!

My only issue is the fact that this European American girl is behind him with the word "success", sending a subliminal message.

Ditto. That is very interesting.

subliminal?

Yes a subliminal message that all things of European descent are successful. Eddie Jacobs to pretend that colonialist propaganda doesn't occur in advertising is a misinformed notion. ESP in context of such an eloquent speaker.

I didn't see the girl in the background, I was paying attention to the speaker. I am a European American. I always check other on an application. I refuse to be white. I thought this was funny, no, not funny, interesting that he does the same. I have done this for years. When I saw the pictures of the two babies together, my first thought was Ah! So cute! I guess I saw nothing wrong with it. I would dump a bunch of multicolor babies together to snuggle, the more the merrier. The only problem I have with his speech was, is he claiming a group of people got together and caused this Black and White thing to separate the poor blacks and whites? Was this an organized thing? I would like more documentation on that and who were these people.

The use of "Aryan" as a synonym for "Indo-European" or to a lesser extent for "Indo-Iranian" is obsolete and ideologically suspect. Doesn't this make Polite guilty of the same crime/mistake he accuses others of making? He labels to advance his argument (from which he realizes personal gain). The powerful of the past devised the labels "black" and "white" according to Polite for the same purpose - personal gain. This is not the only mistake he makes in his speech. There are others. I don't get it - why is everyone in awe of this presentation. Early on, he concludes that we are one human race. If so, why does he feel it necessary to end the presentation by telling us that he's still in search of his identity? He's already found it. He's a human being. The rest is merely a political/economic/cultural construct.

Scholarship? Virtually, everything Polite cites in support of his position is undermined when he labels whites as "Aryan". Most of us are not.

None of this is unique to America

He lost me with "I don't believe in racism" and trying to sell the fact that racial constructs in America didn't occur until the late 1800's. Incorrect. Racial slavery was here in the 1680's, not late 1800's. Where is he getting his info? Research is your friend. If I can debunk his entire premise in 5 minutes, think what others who are not fighting the same fight will do. SMH #DoBetter

a potentially inspiring lesson on the state of race and racism devolves into a Sunday school lesson. meh.
