I can only imagine how TOS fans that went into TNG back then must’ve felt upon seeing the Galaxy class ENT-D and the unusually shaped saucer disproportionate to the nacelles.

I remember as an OG TNG fan going to cons, and many original fans really didn't like the D. So one of the things that brought me great joy was reading their comments after Picard S3 Ep9... They will always love the 1701 & A best which is totally understandable but nearly 35 years later, my girl has finally found a place in their hearts.
