During the times in my life when I listen to music, Sonic Youth is my favorite musical artist. Sonic Youth's main era was 1983-1994, with 1986-1988 being their peak, and their album Daydream Nation being their magnum opus. Their album Washing Machine was the beginning of the end for them. They've gone through a gradual decline starting in about 1995, and their music has become more and more uninspired since then. Bob Dylan went through something like that himself after his main era. This performance reminds me of those SYR albums, and I didn't like their SYR albums. Even though I don't enjoy what they're doing in this performance, I still prefer it over most of the music that's been made in the past 20 years or so. Either way, though: Art is dead, and it's been dead for about 20 years now. I'm glad I replaced art enthusiasm with self-education, beneficial gardening, exercising, and other good hobbies/interests.

Honestly, Kim isn’t very in tune these days. I’ve got insight into two of the guys her wan show they think. This is an example of nostalgia minus social context. By social context I mean they do what slot musicians I’ve booked and promoted do, they downplay and excuse moral and ideologies because they believe what they contributed or have to contrive is more important as music/art than making social statements if it compromises friendship. Sad.

@@PeepingTime SY have always been one of my favourite bands. I did however find their last few albums boring as they seemed to have dead-ended into repetition... either that or they were getting lazy. My initial comment reflected my view that KG was an often overlooked vital element who, arguably, was the real artist in the band & that she has subsequently proven her ability to move forwards.

Are you sure we're talking about the same band? Rather Ripped and The Eternal are great. Sonic Youth has always been a band that is greater than the sum of its parts, where each member brought their own distinct personality. Without Kim there is no Sonic Youth, but they're all artists.
