This was highly enjoyable. I'd always imagined he was some pompous, too-cool-for-school (and standard tunings) guy. But he seems really approachable and down-to-earth. He has clear initial opinions on the things requested, but then he sort of reveals he's not too beholden to those opinions. LIke, whatever, man. Great stuff.

You can't fix a marriage that started just because him and Kim were on tour all the time, I think thats the only reason they started dating. They saw each other every day, it was falling apart in the later years before the cheating according to Kim, That doesn't make what Thurston did right, it was awful, but an end of some sort was coming either way.

definitely possible, their relationship was kind of an institution in and of itself - hence why we're still talking about it. they had to be aware and might have felt like they had to keep it up. more than anything i think it comes down to the fact that thurston was only in his mid-20s when they got together. he spent all of his adult life in that relationship. i don't think it's odd that as he got older he felt trapped or something and needed to explore. but the problem, according to kim, was that he wanted both and you can't do that to people.
