If ever someone needed the spirt of discernment it was this woman. LORD have mercy! It is okay to blatantly tell people no, but if they persist be firm and stand you ground. Christians, we don't have to let every single person into our lives just because we are Christians and to be nice, no we must pray to God and ask Him who to let into our lives and those we are to keep out.

Really well said .There is no shame in being discerning. There are those who act good and kind b/c they need the attention. It feels good to be kind & want nothing in return & I have never read anywhere that God does not allow good & bad to happen to everyone. We are living in very strange times, If you pray for Wisdom about a certain person around your home or family and you feel a deep sense of urgency to protect yourself & your family , I pray for others always and when in doubt ; for wisdom the one time I doubted the answer I was badly injured b/c some people are not safe. I think you worded that perfectly!

My thoughts exactly!! No discernment at all, and no wisdom!! I’m happy to see that they were stood down or stood themselves down as pastor/leader at the church. Maybe need more Experience under more experienced pastors before taking on the head roll. I did admire their hearts for God though!! I use to be like this wife (a long time ago as a baby Christian) and it nearly got me killed!! Being too nice. We are told Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. God bless you!! ❤

Yesterday, I met an old lady who wanted to give job as a cleaner.I told her I wasn't interested, and that I was a seamstress. She then offered to give me some fabrics . What a gift! I accepted and agreed to go to her house. When she said that I must come in the evening and by myself I got scared. I don't know if I watch too many crime documentary. I just thought of all those people who get kidnapped and are enslaved. So this evening I keep safe at home.

I need to say that in the US often so many people call themselves pastors, who have yes followed christian classes/groups/little studies but rare are those who actually have studied theologia and many are very young. It can be very challenging for churches and wisdom would be to have brothers/elders in Christ to help lead the church. Many because if their young age lack of many things.

That woman made me angry throughout this movie. He could have lost his son and husband because she failed to listen to her husband. What's the need of marriage if we can't rely and respect eachother's intuition? And who let's a stranger into her home while she's out and accept a mirror of all things into her bedroom? @maricamaas2326. I totally agree. Women aren't always the victim and men are still judged unfairly. We will never know how many men suffer from DV while cops laugh at them when they try to report it. True story. Men and women working together can achieve results and it all starts with children. Teaching them how to handle the bad stuff without violence is the key to ending DV or reducing the numbers. If their mum and dad fight it becomes learned behaviour and they go on to perpetuate it. It's all they know. I've put this to womens groups and they are so embittered they treat me like the enemy, not as a fellow DV survivor wanting to seek ways to create change. I would appreciate your thoughts on this if you have a spare moment.

I am happy you have a belief in God, but we are called to have a relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ. Jesus even said that "the demons believe and tremble" so we need to do more than just believe or know. We are to believe and follow Jesus. We need to know what His Word says and live it out. Gathering with other believers under elders and deacons is Biblical - that is a church structure. We would have to ignore a lot of the New Testament to come to the conclusion that we can do the Christian life on our own. Even in the old testament, the whole congregation gathered together to hear the Word and the law, and they had local gatherings in which to worship and learn the law, again under the authority of the temple priests. So ask God to show you this as you read the Word for yourself and ask Him to show you where to find the right church. If you Google "verses about church structure" you will get a whole list of passages to study. And remember, the closer we see the day of the return of Jesus drawing near, the more we are to gather with the saints, read the Word, pray. We need to be discipled and we need to be discipling others. Praying that you will find the right one.

Wow--a Christian thriller! Loved it! What I got is that you need to pray to the Holy Spirit before you go evangelizing to people. Just like you ask someone before you can pray for them, you need to do the same in evangelizing--otherwise you risk opening yourself up to demons. Also, when doing door-to-door ministry, if you know it's a single man and he's not elderly, it's a good idea to bring your spouse, or at least another adult, NOT you and your young child. Thanks for uploading!😊😊😊

** Spoilers ** Did anyone notice that this is a movie about a Pastor, but we NEVER hear a single word from him at the pulpit? This was intentional. I wanted to create a story where the Pastor's message was communicated by his deeds, rather than his words because people can say anything, but their deeds truly reveal their heart and intentions. Neighbor sums it up at 01:05:12. "You can learn an awful lot about someone by watching them when they don't know it." Also, this film is filled with subtextual imagery if you look closely. A few examples... 1. In the opening sequence, while the family is driving to their new home, we see Pastor Zack in his rear view mirror. He feels on top of the world, like he's living the perfect life, but this is foreshadowing that his neighbor isn't the only one with a "mirror" (secrets). 2. When Zack and Amber discuss getting him into the church, a ceramic mask can be seen in the background of their bedroom. At the end, when he's packing up, he drops a box & this mask is broken. This symbolizes how he had been living his life behind a mask of perfection, and when his life was shattered, so was his mask, forcing him to see himself for what he truly was, and begin the journey of genuinely becoming the person that he had always pretended to be. God is a God of second chances, and this traumatic event has initiated Zack's second chance at dropping the act, and living a genuine and honest life. 3. When Zach makes his first appearance at church, and waves to the congregation, the front of his shirt is neatly pressed and presentable. But the back of his shirt is full of wrinkles. This is because he has worked hard to impress people & sell himself as the perfect Pastor, but behind his back, what he doesn't allow people to see is that he's really a mess. 4. The Neighbor's last childhood memory of being happy was when he was playing with toy cars. If you look closely throughout the movie, there are toy cars in the background of many of his scenes. He even steals the toy car from the two boys in church. There are many others which I won't list because it's more fun to discover them yourself. Thanks again for all of the wonderful comments. This movie was a labor of love, and took several years to get made. Your conversations here a lot of fun to read. Also, one more thing... Dave Payton, who plays the Neighbor, showed up on set in character, and never broke once throughout the production. Halfway through the shoot, my wife and I began to worry that he might really be crazy. Actress Jessica Koloian (Amber) was legitimately terrified of him throughout the production. In the scene where she approaches the door with the knife shaking behind her back, I kept telling her to tone down the shaking, but she couldn't because she was so genuinely scared. Then, at the world premiere in Orlando, Dave shook Jessica's hand, and introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm Dave. We haven't met." - George Writer/Director/Producer, THY NEIGHBOR

My take on this movie. Good is always in a struggle against evil, light against darkness. God gave the neighbor a last chance to change, he sent a Pastor Zack to live near him. The pastor and his wife tried their best to change the neighbor. But he chose to remain in his evil ways, trying to get the better of them through his devious means. God prevented the family from being seriously harmed, but in the process Pastor Zack lost his calling due to his strong guilt. He forgot that God is a forgiving God. But God sent a co worker to remind the ex pastor about Gods' nature to forgiving (story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11 - 32: ). Very Good Movie.

All are only talking abt the wife. I see that the whole society is at its fault. If people had treated Robert (the neighbor) as normal, if Zach hadn't placed too much weight only on preaching Christianity , this would never had happened. Ending was good, and gives us the moral to treat all with equality and respect. Hope my comment isn't too boring.

this is exactly what most of the churches look like who don't allow God to call them and qualify them to the ministry. Just because you wrote a book doesn't mean you're supposed to be a pastor. This is definitely not what should be happening and yet, it's so prevalent in our society today with social media platforms and many of them are not actually living for God and shouldn't be leading.

Because I lived in diff countries, occidental ones... I can say that its mostly American. I went to so many churches and its young pastors, people wear all fancy like they go to a special place to show off and talk is almost like screaming in the micro Perso I did not like it None of them have studied theology and all of them except 2 churches I was invited to said that "ppl with big studios blablabla, they arr no better" I was very surprised why pastors judge those who actually STUDIED christianity to be closer to God, its crazy to me

He still might. But first, he has been broken so that he can begin the journey of learning to genuinely love people (rather than putting on an act).

I don't think he deserved to go back to preaching. He never walked his talk to begin with, he was just fake like the majority of judgmental preachers are.

@@chicatia88_ God forgives. And I believe if he would have returned to preaching, it would have brought him much closer to Him.

Jalousy is not a bad thing It is normal to be, it would be odd not to be It is the level of jalousy that can be toxic in some ppl and it also depend on the spouse if unwise like these 2

The church is way too huge for a "small town" like this is supposed to be, looks more like a mega-church on the outside and inside.

I happen to resonate with the creepy guy..because I used to be him. And I even used to think like him. I was also abused at home. However I turned back to God like a prodigal daughter. People kept reaching out to me in the confines of boundaries. I wondered why neither the pastor or his wife never asked anyone who Robert was about. Never asked why he is the way he is. People asked for my name and what I am about and my childhood and that sort of thing. The movie was well done. 👍

This was an interesting movie that weighed Christian kindness against healthy caution. The wife showed true Christian neighborliness; the pastor was neighborly but was more street smart. She may have thought the guy was "different" but clearly didn't know he was crazy/dangerous until he started getting a fixation on her. I think her invitation to use their hot tub was a general one; she clearly didn't intend for him to get in right then with her. Notice, she started to get out of the tub but didn't want to appear rude. Personally, I wouldn't have made the invite at all 'cause the guy looked kind of creepy. The neighbor was manipulating the wife by talking about how Christians can be judgmental and unaccepting and making her feel that he had some interest in her faith. He played the pastor for awhile by attending a church service. And then he started playing them against each other. I just realized it was the neighbor who was sending flowers to the church secretary. Sometimes people do respond wrongly to innocent Christian outreach or have sinister motives. Jesus did tell his followers to be "wise as serpents and innocent as doves." (Matt. 10:16).
