Hi, I received my pathology results from my FNA of my right mid lob nodule and the results came back saying low cellularity specimen demonstrating occasional fragments of follicular epithelium without atypia. This they say is benign, the size of my nodule was really small, but what does low cellularity mean, does that mean they didn’t have enough sample to test the nodule adequately? I remember the radiologist that did they biopsy stating that because the nodule is so small there’s a chance it would come back inadequate. Please help me understand what this result means? Thank you!

I have a difficulty in thyroid aspiration with large number of unsatisfactory palpation guided aspiration. Any advise to improve satisfactory rate? Thanks informative lecture. N.B. resources limited area with limited ultrasound access.

Hello, it's difficult to give a universal suggestion, but I find that using a smaller needle (25G) , non-aspiration, and removing the needle in less than 7-8 seconds to be quite helpful. Although I believe the best way to improve is to learn from an expert directly in a high volume setting, whenever possible. All the best!

Is Nuclear grooves considered cytological Nuclear atypia?
@Pathweb2 жыл бұрын
It's one of the features, but alone is not specific. Usually a combination with other features should be present to constitute significant atypia.
