I’m not married yet, but leaving a marriage for the sake of “happiness” seems so weird to me. Happiness is so fleeting and it’s never fully obtained. There are times when your children don’t make you happy, your pet doesn’t make you happy, even life in general. You don’t leave for the sake of temporary feelings. If there’s abuse, neglect, or adultery I understand, but majority of these seems like it could be fixed. All married or divorced people, please feel free to show me my faults of thinking!

Same method but bad example with all due respect. You can switch a job even a career the next day for those reasons. A marriage not so much. In my opinion. I agree with you @EarnestTemp I believe also it is never fully obtained. I also believe that almost everything Tia mentioned can be worked on, on the side while being married. Self love, self worth, and peace. Of course with the exception of some of the things you mentioned. Like abuse. But what I think is that she’s saying those things because it is her truth but not the whole truth. She is probably not mentioning something. Which I think is, she fell out of love with him. (For reasons she’s still not very clear about) And like she kept repeating, life is too short.

The word 'happy' can cause confusion relative to marriage. You will not always be happy. Impossible. It's the overall partnership she is speaking towards here. Meaning, she was connected with someone whom she knows is no longer able or willing to give her what she truly needs to live a fulfilled life and she believes she's worth that. It is not easy to talk divorce without talking down the other person. She's handling this with a lot of class and grace. I am 25 years married and have been through many hardships but overall my happy days far outweigh my unhappy ones. We trot together and strive to focus on giving more than we get from one another relative to our well-being. Like, I love my husband. Still. More than I did before. When we have a disagreement we both hurry up and move towards a solution. I do not believe in fairy tale marriages. I believe in putting in the work and reaping those rewards.

I’m glad you put it that way because that’s not God’s definition of marriage or success of marriage, it’s hers. However God instituted marriage and he has the right to define what it is, not us as individuals. And we can redefine all we want to settle our conscience so we can be ok with breaking vows but ultimately WE ALL will have to answer for our choices in life by the Almighty. God takes marriage very seriously and in fact in the Bible it says God hates a divorce.

@Xenawp yes great advice. Never been married; when I do, it will be it. I read somewhere marriage like anything has seasons. It's not always going to be summery and shiny. Also, what attracts you to a person initially is of most crucial. Most importantly, your spouse must bring you peace before and after marriage as the presence of a baby and the calmness of nature. That is my two cents ladies and gents. Surface qualities like education, beauty and stays are just that - surface and sometimes short-lived. Peace and love to all in marriage and wishing to be in one. :))

Divorce is tough on ANY human being! She is NOT supernatural or some sort of superwoman! It’s ok for her to feel sad or bad or hurt etc she NEEDS to know that! For awhile now we’ve heard black women say….. They aren’t strong all the time and they don’t receive the right care and how people treat them differently believing they are the face of strength! Tia NEEDS to know it’s ok to cry or feel pain and nobody needs her to do a press tour for her broken marriage! THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS! With REAL issues! REAL hurts, problems, etc. if they were so smazin and best friends and love each other on the phone etc. why are you breaking up??? This is the beginning stages of her divorce and I guarantee she will go through a myriad of grieving stages etc. She IS allowed to. But it’s coming…….unfortunately, because divorce is like a death. Marriage is about giving. Not about self. The challenge is when your partner is very selfish. That’s when women snap and “wake up” realizing that their husband didn’t get married to share. Then the self love train starts, and it becomes about nobody else but you and your happiness. It’s tipping an imbalance by over compensating in the total opposite direction which isn’t healthy either. But life is a journey. Listen to God’s voice. He will direct your path.

Love this, everyone’s speaking about SELF, a wave of today. Someone has said: “Self is a GOD we run to when we need validation, help, or encouragement because we believe it has the power to give us what we need. Self is a compelling god because it arises from our deepest desires and impulses.”

@@Christopher0632 y’all love pointing out that women initiate divorce, but not WHY. Many women stay far longer than they should. There is a reason married men live longer than married women, and unmarried women live longer than married men. And nowadays, the wife is working as well, so how is she taking half the husbands wealth? Maybe your issue should be with men not being emotionally available for their wives to lean on.

If she tarnish Cory reputation, that will affect his work and income. If he does that to her, it could hurt her income and that hurts the kids. Also things on the internet live forever. @@whitneymiller5139 But you know what...No one will ever know what she went through in her marriage. She said she was sad during her marriage, and that alone says a lot. We'll never know how he really made her feel during her marriage. I'm not saying the downfall was his fault alone, but maybe she tried and tried to save her marriage and did not get the results she wanted. And this has nothing to do with color because ANY marriage can fail. Any woman can go through this, and men as well. He's probably a good guy, and she, a good woman, but everybody's personalities don't make them a MATCH. Maybe she feels like she tried, and tried, and tried and that STILL didn't work because it wasn't reciprocated, so she was finally DONE. So, that alone would make anybody want to feel like they've broken out of a cage of misery. So she may not be seeking praise, just a celebration of "self". We'll never know. Just saying. That's when I realized I had been running from my pain and devastated .It was my decision to get divorce, however I didn't know how it would affect my life our my son's life even though we did a great job co-parenting.I was overwhelmed with guilt,felt scared and my whole world changed.I persevered and stood strong but it was the hardest decision I every had to make and I do miss having my family.However,I can always hold on to the beautiful memories we shared.I wish you and your babies as well as Cory a lifetime of happiness.🙏🏽😇♥️

I kept telling everyone I was okay and a year later grief hit me out of nowhere! That was a painful season. It's a two-way street a man's happiness is just as important. Never disregard that or it won't last. Be willing to listen to understand and adapt to change and don't be so quick to get upset when you don't get the response you want. Marriage is not easy and it's constant. Unconditional love is hard to find.

I agree with her completely 💯. Putting an end to my marriage that was completely unbalanced was the most healthy act I could do for myself and my two young children. We are women of the most High. Changing the narrative of the term “Divorce” to a celebration of an opportunity for growth in this life and peace…is all within reach.

My two cents.. Tia and her husband definitely had different upbringings and are different people based on that..when you're in the honeymoon phase and then children come along, you start to have a better understanding and grasp as to who that person is and the differences start to show up a lot more versus when you were just in love and only had each other to think about in the marriage

You know what is so sad. When you go on a tour talking about your happiness after divorcing your partner and being completely insensitive to the person on the other end of this tragedy. When one want a divorce and the other doesn’t, it hurts immensely. There seems to be no compassion.
@achatwithgoitse
@achatwithgoitse Жыл бұрын
Wow. I wonder which kind of compassion you’re looking for. I see everyone else appreciating she didn’t bash her husband. Also the partners who usually don’t want the divorce are the ones who deserve it. Also I’m not sure how often you can get partners amicable to it. Someone not wanting a divorce does not mean they should not be divorced.
@MelissaLona
@MelissaLona Жыл бұрын
@@achatwithgoitse you don’t get it honey. Of course she’s not going to bash him. That’s not a good look on her. She’s also not telling the real reason for the divorce which she’s entitled to because it’s her business. But the self love talk ain’t it. And we know that. Self love doesn’t tell you to divorce your husband. I love how so many of you assume because she want a divorce he is somehow so deserving of it. So you making him out to be wrong and you don’t even know what he did or didn’t do. Of course he’s going to be amicable. What else is he gonna do? He can’t make her stay. All I’m saying is imagine not wanting a divorce but your ex is running around telling everyone she’s happy about divorcing you. That will hurt a lot especially if he still loves her. Maybe he cheated, maybe he didn’t, maybe he didn’t help enough around the house, maybe the passion is gone, I really don’t know. I know people look for more reasons to leave a marriage than to stay. And that’s a problem.
