With the Brachiosaurus, I actually quite like the look of the grey clips. In the real world when they put up dinosaur bones they need something to connect them, as bones mostly don't fully connect, making the grey clips accurate.
@Opalisk_ Жыл бұрын
I agree! When I saw an exhibit of a real triceratops skeleton, they had these dark clips holding things in place.
@kirbyalex2002 Жыл бұрын
Glad someone else pointed it! Yes, the gray pieces are plaster pieces meant to mimic the cartilage that would most likely be there holding the bones together. The same technique is used with incomplete skeletons with missing or broken parts.

No, for me the colour of the tree and banners has little to do with why I don't like the olive green in the building. If anything, the white of the pillars clashes more with the green. The olive green in the haunted mansion set worked as it was pushed back by the black and grey, as well as fitting into a Halloween/haunted theme. Here the colour is too much and too grim.

this was my very first modular and by far the biggest Lego set I've ever gotten and I could not be happier! I loved science and Lego growing up, and this set brought back so many good memories from the natural history museum in DC, which I loved when I lived in Virginia. I absolutely love this building, my favorite currently is the jazz club because of its fantastic colors and pleasant design, but for a museum I think this is nearly flawless! I absolutely love the look of this, and can't wait to own it. I'm surprised we're getting a modular and a half (like Assembly Square) again so soon. I really thought this would be an "anniversary" thing that we wouldn't see until 2027, so it's a nice surprise. I wish it was either all tan or dark tan or hell a combination of the two. The green colour makes no sense. Here's hoping it'll be easy to colour swap since the building techniques that went into creating the museum itself remains very impressive imo.

My main criticism when I first saw it is that it's just far too busy on the front. There's just too much clutter making the overall structure look less defined. I probably would not add the window cleaner and I would build the tree at half that height to avoid blocking the banner. Also, I know this wouldn't fit in line with the Modular theme, but I just really wanted the back of this thing to be open so you could directly play with it without taking the entire monstrosity apart. It just looks perfectly made to be played with in a dollhouse configuration, instead of a space-consuming construction project anytime you want to experience the interior.
@Lisaa3124 Жыл бұрын

This is the big 18th Bday (now officially past on the 10th!) set, and I’d say this set is great already. I’m limiting myself to 2 bags a day, and my opinion on some aspects is this: I prefer the green coloration, it feels like something I’d come across as a random-ish building in New York City, though a brick red color would also fit well. The more plates I can plop figures out front on, the better. That’s the main issue I have with my two other Modular’s (Fire Brigade and Bookshop), they come with so many figures but no way to display them without toppling over unless you add some plates as modifications.

My gosh, that's a beautiful modular! I love the exterior and the extras as well as the first floor exhibits and especially the skeleton extending to the second floor. However, the floor of the second floor without tiles but studs and the references to old lego themes, which I find useless as exhibits, are major design Flaws. I think there is especially one non-Lego set that has to be compared to this one, Xingbao's maritime museum (I build it). The latter is significantly less expensive while boosting a 20% higher piece count, a third floor, all tiled floors and a more detailed backside. Furthermore, I find the single exhibition theme better. While Xingbao's facade is incredibly detailed, it just feels like "too much" compared to the one of Lego's museum. The former boasts, however, a great ingenious door design.

Maybe it's the big posters on both sides as they catch more attention than necessary and make the windows look smaller than they actually are. It's a nice looking building overall but as you said at the end, it feels like a standalone set which I am not really sure I like
