Recently did this race, started 12 because of bad qualifying, started on mediums, 1 stop strategy, I did not overtake anyone and actually won the race. 7/10 wings

This is something I've thought about a few times while following this series. He does a great job of humanizing the AI and getting you interested in the outcome of each race.

Ricciardo goes for a gap that is never there, but doesn’t need to get a penalty because he already penalised himself with the front wing damage. Also you were ahead, so Ricciardo is wrong in this situation.

Not getting a penalty has nothing to do with your situation in your race. When you destroy the race from the driver you crashed into, you get a penalty that's it.

this race sums up the F1 games. until codemasters sort out the stupid strategies that the AI make then the game will continue to be poor, you should never of won that race. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I haven’t watched the video yet but tbh as you said, it’s a game, not a simulator. A game aims to bring joy and fun to the player so i guess that’s kind of why even at 110 AI u can still win after bigboy mistakes. From a competitive side of view it’s poor, but for players who want to have fun i guess it’s alright. I only do leagues but i guess that’s one way to explain it

@@axtj_ I hired him on Season 3, best car of the field, Ferrari engine, he helped a lot on winning the constructors championship. Now I am on Season 4, at the Japanese GP, already won the Constrcutors, but I am fighting him to win the drivers championship. His overall performance is 100, playing on 100 AI, he is a beast, but also really hard to beat

Having lived in Singapore most of my life, I can guarantee that 9.5319 minute short showers are absolutely the most common thing in our dismal weather to throw any outdoor plans off. Codemasters did a realism with this one I'm afraid x'D

Codemasters need to do a better job with strategies. that shouldn't be able to happen. shouldn't be able to win a race like that after the collision with Ricciardo

I agree. It is not realistic and ruins experience for me as only watching this. Bad AI brains. They should take Ben's driving as example for great strategy. Sacrifice couple laps and gain for notnusing 2nd pitstop, or not going after all 3 sets of tyres

U maybe should consider that an ai now is not the same as a human brain, it can indeed only be improved but it cannot get that advanced. I do agree that the strategies are bad

Uh.... go watch the 2011 canadian grand prix. True, the ai is rather mediocre on the strategy side, but it doesnt mean its unrealistic to win with a crazy "strategy"

He was on the racing line, that's true but he did not back off when Ben was turning across to get a good exit, he even accelerated. I think what you said is true and that he had to back out of it, now both of their races are now ruined from this point.

Ben went down the inside of Ocon. Ocon had the inside then for the left hander, with the conclusion that Ben had to go wide. Then Ricciardo went down the inside because a gap opened which wasn't actually there. Ricciardo could have known that that gap was closing (because you can't overtake in that small section) and should've backed out of it.

I think what happens with the tyres is that whoever is your teammate always uses all their medium tyres but one set on the practices, so during the races they don't have 2 medium tyres to use and end up using the hards. Maybe try changing the tyre allocation for the next Soft-Medium-Medium race and check my theory!

I think the overtake button upgrades are to overpowered compared to the AI. Because a player can just spam the overtake button but the AI only use it when they are really close.
