Literally been telling everyone this. What DEI gets you. Now Walt’s Magic Kingdom is a giant CF. Still can’t even wrap my head around destroying the number one attraction at a theme park for a lesser experience, especially when the movie had the attraction written out for you and people would have ACTUALLY gotten behind it, instead of what this monstrosity has become. “Hey kids, after we get done riding the Pirates Antiques Roadshow attraction Let’s go ride in a Salt Dome! as someone who has worked in park ops, the park ops leadership having a say in what gets built isn’t “ridiculous” often imagineering doesn’t fully understand the realities of operating an attraction for thousands of guests a day, and CMs suffer for it. i do agree that the current decision making process as you describe it is ridiculous.

Agreed. Brayden's take was a bit heavy handed. Why would Iger have any better knowledge of park ops than park ops leadership? Wishful thinking here, but I'd rather see park metrics emphasize guest satisfaction father than profit margins. This encourages WDI to think creatively and park leadership to embrace new ideas while staying within budget. I also wish Disney would spin off the parks into a separate company. Tokyo Disney supposedly has the best parks--how do they make decisions?

Assuming Bob Iger is being genuine? 15 years has proven he is completely uninterested in spending money on the parks unless he absolutely has to. The parks exist solely to bilk customers so they can use those profits to bolster the company's other problem areas. Whatever Bob Chapek changed, it didn't change who Bob Iger was. Bob Iger is still the person who drove some of the best leaders out of Disney - Matt Ouimet, Kevin Mayer & Tom Staggs - and then chose Chapek only because he figured he could control Chapek from his newly created position in the company (CEO's Daddy). He's still the person that cut every budget set before him (what happened to Cars Land's Phase II?), except maybe for Pandora's. It was well-known that Matt Ouimet and George Kalogridis both wanted to add more attractions to the Disneyland Resort when they were each President there, but someone wouldn't give them the money. If these people reported directly to Iger, then it was clearly Iger closing the purse strings. Why are we still pretending it's other people making these decisions? Did he change that much in his two whole years away from the company (actually much less as he was treated as Chapek's boss for a good year after Chapek "took over"). Matt Ouimet didn't even last 3 years after Iger became CEO, so he left the company and later went on to become CEO of Cedar Fair, a company that actually builds new attractions on a regular basis. So why is he one of the people getting the blame? EVERYTHING wrong with the parks and their future right now is ALL due to Iger. He promised to "fix" the changes "Chapek" made, and has he? He's had over a year, plenty of time to fix things. He's not only done NOTHING, he also has NOTHING planned. It's all media soundbytes and, "Hey, we're making even MORE sequels!!!" He sucks. Blaming his suckiness on others simply allows the suckiness to continue.

I think this ride will be similar to the frozen ride. You get well made tiana animatronics in some scenes. But rides with these highly detailed animatronics tend to be empty. The avatar boat ride comes to mind. I think if this attraction becomes just another log flume ride, then the retheme has failed.

The "mountain" thing has never really bothered me because it never really looked like a mountain to me anyway. The Matterhorn, that's a mountain. This rides exterior has always looked more like a "hill" with grass on it. I mean it had a log/tree on top before, that's a pretty big log if it's on top of a "mountain".

I’ve seen other channels dumping on this animatronic. Yes it looks a little off model, but what we are seeing is not in context, not on a set surrounded by scenery and props and without theater lighting. And on a ride you only really see an animatronic for 20 seconds tops. So it just needs to make a visual impact. The motion is fluid and it is a real face, so 👍🏻👍🏻

True. Georgia does have mountains, but probably not near a swamp setting like in Splash Mountain. Louisiana, while mostly not on mountainous land, does technically have a mountain, which is debatably more of a hill. (Look up Driskill Mountain.) But the Chickapin Hill of Song of the South wasn’t a mountain, despite the ride being called Splash Mountain, so I say who cares because Disney was stretching with both attractions either way.

Just a little thought that I had. Do you think that the place with the mural is like that because it wants you to start out in the normal world which is today and as you go into the line for the ride it starts transforming into Tiana’s world and makes you the character in her world. This is sort of like in remys ratatouille adventure when you are leaving the ride if you look at the ground you notice that the floor is zoomed in making you the character in remys and as you leave the floor goes back to normal size because your going back to the real world. Anyways this is just a thought. Keep up the good work on all the news I love it and have a good one!

Animatronic is fantastic. The mural on the barn is beyond bad. I don’t think that the Asian/Native-American, White, African-American profiles have anything to do with early 20th century New Orleans. It’s simply virtue signaling. I am a fan of this company. I visited Disneyland for the first time when I was 6 years old. I cannot believe what is happening with Imagineering. It makes no sense. Put together a quality attraction that takes me to early 20th century N.O. Stop all the extra B.S. The same can be said for the studios. It’s pathetic.

While you may already know this - Google “Avery Island Salt Dome” & the imagineers’ backstory for this new “hill/mountain” in the bayous of Louisiana actually makes sense :-) - I lived near here for a few years & the well-known Tabasco sauce comes from this area of Louisiana (born in MN my father used to put this sauce on EVERYTHING) - so there’s even a “food” connection (Tiana’s Co-Op Foods) to this salt dome hill of Louisiana👍🏼 - it makes a lot of sense to me!

Why I like the original Splash mountain so much was because it felt like I stepped right inside the world of a cartoon. Tiana's version looks more like a way to get out of the Florida heat for ten minutes. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt at least.

I think the barn structure entrance could have been updated more to look like Old New Orleans by painting wrought iron and other downtown architecture to look more authentic instead of this burnt orange painted background with a mural. I am trying to keep an open mind about the retheming but it still does not look like New Orleans or the Louisiana Bayou to me yet.

Nothing agaisnt having more diverse characters in more permanent residence. I just hope this ride lives up to a greater standard and surprises me, but I really doubt it and fully believe this was probably value engineered and gutted to all hell. I just feel so bad for all the creatives currently being battered around by the brain-dead executives. Tbh there should be a mutiny agaisnt leadership before the whole ship sinks but for all we know it might be too late.

It would be great if they keep Frontierland as it is but have a Tianas Place restaurant as you go under the bridge for the Railroad with the entrance being near where chip and Dale use to meet. They could also use the old Briar Patch gift shop as either a meet and greet space or quick service for the Tiana beignets

The thing about operation personel is that they know how difficult or easy any ride is to run. One can imagen anything one wants but thee is no guarantee that it will work so I think that what you are proposing is all Imagineering with not operational input and that may be why so many rides break all the time!

And that’s where engineers at imagineering can try and minimize breakdowns. And besides rides like Hagrid’s are a nightmare to operate yet it’s (one of) the most popular ride(s) that fans love even if it does have so many issues cause that’s when operators have to actually learn to adapt and handle the ride

They're could be some room on the west end between the prarade end route and the Adventureland boarder. East end of that land next to the Country Bear Musical Jamboree at the Frontierladn Boarder.

I'd I had to put money on an official opening date I would pick July 17th. Disney loves reusing important historical dates. I'd venture to guess that they have an internal target of 7/17 and we will see previews for cast and AP holders around 7/4. I don't think the ride needs too much more. If they're showing one Tiana you know the rest are done too. That Louis just needed a skin a few months ago. They only have a dozen or so AAs to install and the end scene to make "magical". If they miss the 7/17 date, then I can see it being a month or so later in mid-August. In any case, I'm excited for this ride to come back in any form. It's one of the last longer-form rides left in any of the parks at around 11 minutes. One thing that is ignored a lot is the loss of ride length in the parks. They took away the Great Movie Ride which was 22 minutes for a sub 5 minute ride. Epcot lost hours of attraction length... when people aren't on rides, they're on lines. I know people don't have attention spans anymore, but it's nice to be on one attraction for more than 2 minutes before having to make another decision.
