I initially thought that SMRT would cease bus operations indefinitely, but the major win for Jurong West region kinda saves the operator from getting extinct.

Even though might be a bit strange for SMRT in Tuas and Joo Koon as it's their first time operating further in the area, but they have already serve few industrial areas like Kranji and Lim Chu Kang, it will take some time for them to get used to these further areas

I think the smaller companies will eye for eastern side of bcm packages. Cause GAS has only loyang. Sengkang package most likely smrt cause of the bus service 110. Maybe bedok or tampines will be for GAS. The cck bpj package will be the bcm package to watch for all. This will be highly contested.

It's good that SMRT are not left out anymore for bus packages, after the Tower Transit took over their role in Woodlands and Yishun 2 years ago. It's gonna be a new learning for SMRT in Tuas and Joo Koon as a industrial area

I didnt knew SMRT has the first batch of 2xx routes that SMRT had never had in life 😂. I was wondering what bus models they are taking? Maybe ADL E500 Euro 5, hopefully ADL E500, some MAN A95 Euro 5 along with MAN A22s and what other bus models will retain here? The only good thing about was I finally get to see SMRT bus model running on my favourite bus service 240 in 2024. I would be happy to see it. I may go down in the future to record some final moments before handover to SMRT in 2024.

ngl its going to look weird seeing smrt taking over the Jurong west and tuas area considering sbs has been serving there since day 1, just like how sbs and tts took over the north. but good to see finally smrt winning a package although personally i rather them win seletar back, but im still looking forward to the new era.

Once SMRT services of 179,181 and 185 were returned back to SMRT The ex SMRT A95 euro 5 return back to SMRT again So…. The question is The ADL 3door I understand What about the A95 3 door? Will they stay in SBS for 197 or go?

Should stay on 197. If Bedok North willing to take all for 197, Bedok North will be taking MAN A95 3D2S as well

Thanks! If theres no consideration and Bedok North still can manage to fill up space, then 30 & 197 will be full controlled by Bedok North. However, because Service 197 falls under Clementi Region, it can be partial with UPD for temporary. 506, i heard Bukit Batok will be taking over

Admin! Side track abit, Bedok bus package is pretty small only 20 services if we exclude 506… would LTA make some last min changes probably merge with Tampines or draw some services like 137, 197 back to Bedok? Just wondering :D

Nice Video! I was quite shocked to see the visual posted by LTA on the transfer of the Jurong West Bus Package to SMRT Buses wor. Nonetheless, I would like to congrat SMRT Buses for getting the Jurong West Bus Package after losing so many bus packages. We'll see how SMRT Buses perform in the Jurong West region! Is it going to be better than SBS Transit or is it going to be much more worse🤔

i believe in 2029, Clementi Bus Package will use Ulu Pandan Bus Deport once Pasir Panjang Bus Depot is ready for Bukit Merah Bus Package By than Service 160 and 170 will under Clementi Bus Package and Ulu Pandan Bus depot will replace BBDEP

Whereas Ulu Pandan's main consideration is the cross border bus services, Jurong West's main consideration is actually the Tuas South region. There needs to be a Singaporean core bus operator operating the Jurong West region. Tuas is already more foreigners than locals. If let a foreign operator operate, it would be even worse. So for Jurong West, it is really a matter of sovereignty. SMRT is owned by Temasek, SBS Transit also largely owned by the government. It was honestly just a competition between SBS Transit and SMRT, for the Jurong West package and the Ulu Pandan package.

But it's already too late LOL Cuz 174 supposed to be under JW but still in Clementi which should had announced earlier before the tender start. One thing I know is the reason 174 still under Clementi package is because it's pass through Beauty World and it's quite near to Ulu Pandan Depot I will say. In the future, maybe extend 174 to Tengah then pass through Beauty World then proceed to City. But I would say 174 is a big mistery tbh
