13:02 to clarify, this is the Mantauk, the subterranean mobile HQ that Slavik used for most of the original Tiberian Sun campaign, the Nod counterpart to GDI's Kodiak. 14:48 this mission can actually be a normal macro mission, too. GDI will give you Engineers (i think the intention is to be quick panic repairs for your Fist of Nod), and there's actually nothing stopping you from taking a Construction Yard. I usually go for the top base as it's much easier to destroy. Odd quirk with this mission: You can then unlock BUILDING MCVs, for some reason, and in doing so when you deploy it, it for some reason... Gives you GDI buildings you can build. Weird, lol. Anyway, yeah, this poor game man. They had so many other things they wanted to implement that they just couldn't get around to it. Some features are even almost entirely functional but for some reason were left on the cutting room floor, like the Dropship Loadout menu. 1. Cyborg Reapers were meant to be in the base game but got cut due to some bugs before being re-introduced in Firestorm. 2. the Starport mechanic from Dune 2000 was meant to be available to GDI through the scrapped Dropship Bay building. 3. It is my understanding the Firestorm Defense System wasn't fully realized and functioning totally in the intended manner (ex: the bug with flames). 3. Threat Rating Node, which also MOSTLY works and was simply scrapped. Essentially, your units would have auto-targeting one way, but when you build the Threat Rating Node, it would "improve" their auto-targeting, focusing down higher "threat" targets. 4. Orca Transports were meant to be buildable and usable by the player, but due to some absurd bug that existed in the game until only recently fans were able to patch it, were not made available. 5. Nod was supposed to have RA1-type Spys in the form of Chameleon Spy. some of the features still work, like revealing production of an infiltrated building, and some work but with major bugs, like infiltrating radars reveals that player's revealed terrain to you, but the bug being also to everyone else in the game. revealing power level and revealing resource storage usage and capacity. im not sure if those last two are functional in TS, but the first two are. 6. Limpet Drone was originally meant to be some kind a proximity mine, but due to some limitation they scrapped the mine and made it the Limpet Drone. 7. the Chemical Spray infantry from the first C&C game was meant to make a return. for whatever reason they scrapped it. it has a fully-realized sprite in the game that goes totally unused. 8. Harpies were supposed to have rotors, but due to some kind of limitation of how their voxel rendering engine worked, could not actually be put on the graphic. it only has rotors in the sidebar icon. 9. GDI was meant to have a dedicated tiberium vein clearing unit, but this unit was scrapped due to being redundant (since GDI can just easily kill the veinhole). 10. there was a GDI "Command Center" building that got scrapped. it's unclear what it would have done, possibly just acting as a Tech Center. 11. originally, GDI's Radar was meant to act as the pluggable structure instead of the Upgrade Center. there was multiple balance concerns with this, ranging from it'd be too easy for GDI to tech, to it would also be a huge loss if this Radar was destroyed since Radars are typically a semi-high priority target when attacking someone's base. 12. Nod was originally meant to have their own Repair Bay. 13. the EMP Cannon was meant to be only for Nod at one point. 14. there was an entire scrapped lighting system that was meant to at least affect the accuracy of units, higher light = more accuracy. to go in conjunction with this, there was going to be buildable light posts that would illuminate a large area. i believe that how much accuracy a unit had baseline and how much accuracy they get from being in good lighting and how much accuracy they give a unit for being in good lighting was going to vary from unit to unit. 15. Spotlight Towers were originally meant to be buildable and would have gone along with said lighting system, units targeted by the spotlight tower would have things targeting it have further improved accuracy. essentially, the spotlight tower would have provided maximum lighting onto a targeted unit. 16. the Turbine Power Plant that GDI has was originally intended for Nod. 17. Airstrikes from the first game were intended to make a return. 18. there was meant to be a superweapon that would be available to whoever captured a neutral Mutant building that would give them a commando reinforcements of Umagon, Tratos (acting as a vehicle hijacker) and Ghost Stalker with a handful of Tiberium Fiends. 19. Hunter Seeker was a buildable unit and was intended to have most of the functionality the current Limpet Drone has and were meant to have a detonation feature, where at any time you could destroy the vehicle it was attached to, as well as give you more information about the unit. 20. instead of the Cluster Missile, Nod's main superweapon was originally meant to be a normal missile like in the first game, except you had the option of picking 1 real target location and 2 fake target locations. 21. scrapped support power for GDI that would just reveal a small area for free, kinda like Yuri's Psychic Reveal in Red Alert 2.

@Templarfreak2 жыл бұрын
@@doctor_cheesecake i dont recall that for _Tiberian Sun,_ but they _were_ planning on adding those factions for the scrapped version of C&C3 that Westwood was working on before they were shut down. Mutants i dont think were ever intended to be a playable faction for TS, at one point Umagon was meant to be a hero unit for GDI, and at another point Umagon, Ghost Stalker, and Tratos were meant to be a superpower similar to GDI Drop Pods that would give you 1 of each and some Tiberium Fiends, and the only way to get this superpower was to capture a neutral building on some maps, but at no point were they intended to be units for their own playable faction from what i can tell. most concept art and models for CABAL units made by Westwood were also made sometime after the release of Tiberian Sun, such as the Swarmling, Trooper, the mecha T-Rex thing, and so on.

Hey I'm one of those ancient modders, grew up modding the game and spent years on Project Perfect Mod and a few other sites digging through things, trying to figure out things like how to make Dropships properly work, trying to make hologram units (as in a unit makes holograms of itself, resulted in some wacky stuff). Even was once part of a mod team, even have some assets on a few small sites at one point. Sadly I think all but like 4-5 voxels I kept through the decades between machines have been lost to the digital wasteland. But it was a fun 8 years from 2000 to 2008 for modding TS and RA2. And TS holds a special place in my heart as the first game I bought with my own money, I played that game to death and am glad it is still technically playable even today. Even if it requires setting my resolution to tiny and if I want to show friends I have to use a capture card on the monitor that's going to have it running on. What a wonderful buggy weird game and series. I really do miss TibSun's take on the universe, it's visuals, storytelling, and just the way things felt to actually have stakes left it's mark on me and where I have gone as an artist, writer, and engineer turned prop maker.

I actually always really liked Dogma Day Afternoon, where you have to recover the artifacts from the Cult, as janky and terrible as it is. Something about all the weird scripted events, like the Cult leader appearing on a cliff with lightning strikes around him while chanting "Come to me...", while the level starts off with Rain in the Night pt 2, which sounds like it should be music from a spooky Halloween level in a cartoon platformer game and not an RTS soundtrack.... definitely C&C's weirdest mission. EDIT: btw, one thing I noticed on that mission is that you don't need to use the Juggernauts to clear the Veinhole monsters. You can actually just position Ghoststalker right next to the monster "hole", and two shots from the railgun will kill it, nice and quick.

I remember how disappointed I was when I discovered that in FS artillery (including Juggernauts) can actually miss when the target is moving, making it much, much weaker as a defensive unit and only truly effective in destroying enemy defensive turrents from a safe distance. I know that Nod Artillery always hitting the target was ludicrous, but it balanced the very meh Tick Tank. And playing as GDI I could always spam Titans (aka the best unit in the game), Jump Jets or Orca Bombers to counter them.
@zyxophoj3 жыл бұрын
It was indeed ridiculous to see artillery shells crash to the ground 5 squares behind a fast unit like a bike, and even make a crater where they landed... and have the bike explode anyway. It's a little bit sad that GDI completed their juggernaut project at the exact same time that the laws of physics governing artillery were changed. That, combined with juggs' iffy accuracy meant their main use was smashing obelisks so that the titans could clean up everything else. The inexplicably fat ass of the obelisk in Tib Sun definitely helped a bit there; even juggs had a hard time missing that.

I remember all the amazing maps with the modded units we will never see again. A pour out a drink for the fallen maps.

Try using the wayback machine to find the mods you are looking for. The downloadable files might still exist

Actually, you can play first Nod mission as a macro one by capturing GDI refinery and barracks, producing more engineers and capturing more buildings to produce more units...

I like to imagine that the soldiers patrolling the research base see a massive shimmering wave pass over something and just stare at each other cufused as hell, deciding its more worth thier while to just not do anything with the shimmering feild

TS was also the first game I made mods for. I was quite young at the time so a lot of them were shitty and unbalanced to hell, but my god it was great fun.

Slavic is here giving you the go ahead to assault a dangerous AI and the fact that he delivers “smash that machine into junk” with such an even tone kills me

At the fist of nod mission, you can safe the village and get engineers. Capture the bottom right base and its just cake walk after that
