Tibet, Mission Impossible (Entry #28 Short Film of the Year Awards 2019)

In the summer of 2019 Expedition Filmmaker/expeditioner Olaf Obsommer gathers an international team of paddlers to go explore the rivers of Tibet during the monsoon season. In search of big water, the team will have to deal with flooded rivers, high altitude syndrome, destroyed roads and Chinese bureaucracy.

I respect the desire to put in the story surrounding the trip; however, I for one would like to see the ratio of whitewater:story to be 90:10 instead of 10:90. More river running, less storytelling.

Most challenging adventure trip I have ever watched. Some rivers from Nepal also boast almost the same grade of difficulties.

Some pretty poor post work on that video. The captions were being clipped on both the left and the right, and in a few parts the video itself was being clipped as well. Some good footage you just need to pay more attention to the editing process and to the QC process at the end before release.

The Tsangpo Gorge is without a doubt the most isolated, dangerous river on the planet. There are stretches of rapids in the lower gorge (after that huge scour/blowout event years ago) that God himself would have to portage.

I'm sure the locals appreciate the paydays, but one wonders what the natives, especially the older ones, think of the westerners that come to risk death climbing mountains, and now others paddling little plastic boats down raging mountain rivers. I guess to some, life without adrenaline just isn't worth the trouble.
