Ticket to Ride Europe 15th Anniversary Edition - Do you need it?

This was great for me because I was looking to buy TTR when I found this. I wouldn't recommend it if you already own the original, but for your only copy this one is worth it.

That’s a really pretty edition, when you compare it to that new Catan or the pandemic special editions, it blows those away.

An easy fix is sleeves with a nice textured matte color back side.

Yeah, but they did the same thing with the cards for Ticket To Ride: 10th Anniversary Edition, as well - and that version is now out of print and really hard to get. So I just snatched this version up for TTR: Europe for that reason.

Thanks for the comparison as I was looking to add Ticket to Ride Europe to my game collection as I have a few other versions of the franchise. Now I know that I want the anniversary edition as it’s got such great detail. I think it’s important to point out that as nice as the anniversary is, is that it can’t be used with expansion sets. For me, I have the original Ticket to Ride base game, so that can be used with expansion sets.

I am impatiently waiting for them to actually ship the pre-orders on this game. I ordered it months ago at the $79.99 price point. It was originally supposed to ship in May (possibly even April originally, but not sure about that).

I think it's important to point out that because the train pieces are bigger this version is not compatible with any of the maps expansions...so if you really like ttr you probably have expansions... So Im not sure who this is for apart from collectors...

Actually the pieces in the Europe 15th Anniversary edition are smaller than the ones in the 10th Anniversary USA Edition, so they can be used with expansions (Tantrum House mentioned that in their video)....

@@FernandoCanoG ok strange...dice tower said the opposite...given the difference in scale of the maps between regular and anniversary and the fact that there are still 45 trains each, routes all the same lengths...the trains would surely have to be bigger in the anniversary edition

If we're talking about buying new, the Anniversary edition is just $19 more than the regular edition + the 1912 expansion (and it has more tickets as well) according to current Amazon prices.

It isnt double the price when you consider the price of the 1912 value as the anniversary one includes the 1012 expansion. The increase price then becomes only the upgraded meeples. it wasnt comparing apples with apples when one game has the added expansion cards and gamepay

Thank you. I do not own any Ticket to ride games, and I was thinking to buy 15th... edition. But what I find out, most important reason why I'm not going to buy this. Because you can't play bigger expansions with that 15th edition. I want to play on Japan map etc. Trains are bigger... that's why, normal edition is for me better.

Entertaining commentary and review (just subbed). I enjoy a lot of different games with the family (Sheriff, Lockup, Clank etc) but surprisingly haven't tried TTR so was thinking this might be a good time to dive in with the anniversary edition. Compatibility with expansions seems like it might be an issue (not sure) and player count (we're mainly 4 but sometimes 3 or 2). If not this version then is the a compelling reason to get the base Europe version over the USA one?

Yeah, the 10th Anniversary Edition was also not compatible with the expansions (because they are bigger to match the board).

No one "needs" this obviously... But there are people who pay $1000s for jewel-encrusted Monopoly sets. So compared to that, this is entirely reasonable! 😅

Canceled my pre-order because I found out the trains are too big to play on my expansion maps. Not interested in holding onto multiple boxes. Looks great tho
