All I can say is wow! I thought my tank was a dream but wow. This tank is massive, packed with huge SPS colonies and even the equipment he is using is spot on for running such a large system. It looks like every detail of this build was so well thought out it is crazy. My only complaint about his setup is his couch is not pointed in the right direction. 😂😂 Than you should do more of these tank field trips. I love seeing how people create these unforgettable home systems and the behind the scenes that keeps them healthy and thriving!!
@atombomb2326105 жыл бұрын
After being in the hobby for 30 years im sure ryan has figured out that the go big or go home approach will cause less problems and heartache. The only items used that cost many times more than standard equipment were the abyzz pumps and the sheer number of radion lights. You could trim back on those two items and this system would be doable for anyone that has some knowledge on how to build up a system. A lot of people will spend 30-35k on a car they like but will that car regrow a mirror after you snap it off and resell it?
@AJ-bi6ns4 жыл бұрын
Fair analogy, but most people finance that cost. Little harder to finance a reef 🤣

Joey Merrell I feel like when you’re tank gets that size and you can afford that much equipment, you probly don’t do many water changes. My 72 gallon is 3.5 years old and I only have to do 4-6 changes a year on it
@valtteri16835 жыл бұрын
@@adamnorvell if you mean 72 and not 720 then you are doing WAY too less water changes.

@@valtteri1683 not if you carbon dose, the reason most people do water changes is to keep nitrates down. Carbon dosing keeps it down.

I'd say close to 7 figures
@lucamartino30075 жыл бұрын
Not even close to 7 figures. Figure the tank was 30k, sump 10k, lights 15k, pumps 10k, calcium reactor 2k, protein skimmer 5k, install and plumping 12k, electrical and HVAC 15k, odds and ends 15k. So about $120,000 would be my guess. Not counting the stone thing. I have no idea for that.

Wowza! I'm totally stealing this as my dream tank for when I win the lottery. I would deff have more fish and algae just because but it's beautiful. The wave boxes in the skimmer box is actually an idea that I have been toying with. I had never seen it before but was an idea as I am drawing up notes like wants and needs for my tank when I can finally jump in with both feet. It obviously functions but I was considering the different pumps for it. I wondered if I could mount a nero type pump and the skimmer box would have been made with sections like this. I was also trying to figure out a surge device above and that ball valve is now noted for later. Sweet tank build for sure. I was and am considering something that feeds often or constant for different animals and I would like to have the food dispersed by the surge device. My tank would be along the 300 400 gallon range but would love something not quite as big as this but the whole fish room is great.

That was a magnificent video, the way you speak alone is very soothing and calm and makes it very relaxing to see these videos I thank you for sharing this. Definitely reminds me back in my crazier days of reefing where I'd want the biggest tank I can get, as large as I went though was 6 feet by 5 feet, never went longer than 6 feet although my current tank originally was suppose to hit the 8 foot barrier I balked at the build price I was quoted (apparently there was a quite a shortage of glass at the time, making it more expensive than it ordinarily was), either way I settled with a tiny 200 gallon tank and I think my pocket book thanks me for that. But I will say seeing tanks like this I do get the itch again for large... luckily I'm fairly content where I'm at.

Other than the haphazard attention to detail in the fish room it’s a well thought out system. I wonder how much syphon capacity that sump has during a power outage. Those return heads are quite low into that aquarium and look like they are going to suck 5” or more of water during a power outage.
@ArrickthaRed5 жыл бұрын
Great video. Beautiful tank. The one thing I took away was besides the scale the setup was very basic aside from the wavemaker and surge tank. These things arent really practical in most tanks. The rest was just what you see on most tanks just bigger. This just proves to me execution is more important than equipment. With that being said the secret monitor probably really helps the execution part. It will probably cost the same as a small used car but one can dream.

So what’s the device that monitors all the numbers, ghl addition? Ghl always has very high end equipment, even commercial stuff. 10-15 years ago, only a few of us were using profilux. P2, then p3. I still have the p3.1Tex ultimate, which has the same touch screen that’s still being used on the p4. It is still perfect, no need for a p4, unless the new monitor device works for only p4, then I’m gonna get one! I also still have 5 Mitras 6200. From my research, only thing p4 has is built in WiFi, but mines always had WiFi with a $30 gaming WiFi unit. I’m surprised he didn’t go with the Mitras 7200 actually, which imo is a superior light to the radions. Not crazy better, but slightly better when comparing side by side with the radion.
