This is explains why I keep finding the pod skin stuck to clothing. It gave up and went back to tide powder. It works better.

Powder doesn't dissolve in cold water either. Just use liquid
@Loves2troutfish5 ай бұрын
Except most HE machines explicitly say not to use powder.
@Loves2troutfish5 ай бұрын
@beetothebop123 these ppl think the old way is better. Yet most machines now days aren't built for powder. They're built for liquid or pods depending on the age.
@lottedunnell19065 ай бұрын
Yup. I use Ariel here in the UK. It's great for heavy stains (kids) but I've had a few white items ruined on short washes by the blue section of the pod not dispersing fully and dying some fabrics. The sticky pod skin is nasty too. Always have to hand wash it out then put it back in the washer to spin
@exploridori5 ай бұрын
Your wash temperature is not suitable for the pods. This doesn't mean that the pods are horrible and dont work, it just means that they're not suited for your specific situation. If the pods arent fully dissolved in your wash, then the powder won't be either, the grains just settle in spots you cant see. I would recommend using liquid instead.

That’s odd because when I put the tide pods in and start the water and watch the cycle go - it dissolves within minutes

There's clothes in the washer which helps it dissolve because of the friction :)

Same, I legit think folks don't know how to properly load their machine. My ex hated tide pods because they never dissolved. But mines did just fine. Common sense should have told him to stop overloading the washing machine, but he's an idiot. 🙄😒🤦
@britvic43345 ай бұрын
I went back to powder a few years ago after seeing the washing machine engineer pull 4 almost dissolved pods from inside the machine. Said he's always fishing them out as people think 20 or 30 is an okay temp but it doesn't melt these plus constant cool washes that's when the build of crap begins. Do one 60 wash a week and an empty 90.
@doeeyes25 ай бұрын

Tide pods dissolve. I used pods for cold wash because my kids would dump too much soap. Never had a problem and my clothes are always clean. If pods did not dissolve you would find them accumulating in the bottom of your machine.
@Dontcareanymore7815 ай бұрын
I did exactly the same, powder is also cheaper I kept throwing my clothes straight into the tumble dryer and kind that a pod was half melted and dried onto a piece of clothing. I no longer use fabric softener but will throw a capful of zoflora with the towel wash

@kaylabunnie52835 ай бұрын
Be careful with vinegar; the acid has a softening effect but is rough on fabric with repeated use. This is especially true for clothes with elastic bands and those made from stretchy fabric. You should use it every other wash for fabric safety. Boric acid/20 Mule also softens/brightens but is kinder to fabrics overall integrity than vinegar.
@samanthang91485 ай бұрын
That’s why you put the pod in the machine before the clothes, the clothes help dissolve the pod. Been using pod for couple years now. Always use cold water, never have the problem.
@jamesdeclan75385 ай бұрын
They are all probably hiding as sticky globs in the bottom of your washer. Surprising that your pump hasn't gone yet

Yeah this is a super flawed test that doesn’t tell the user anything. The friction of the clothes also helps to dissolve the pods. I’ve been using pods for years and have never once had any issues.

I do that and still find the "skins" either stuck to my clothes or inside the groove on the seal for the door.

I have never had a problem using my Tide pods and it’s been almost a decade.
@SLP8285 ай бұрын
I don't use the pods. I use the liquid. The problem being that it's a concentrate and you shouldn't use more than 2 tbps. That leaves some of the laundry not smelling like it's clean. So what I've been doing is diluting the 2 tbps in water so it will disperse better. It's been working great and I don't use too much detergent.
@notquiteme07-bi6il5 ай бұрын
When the washing machine filled that disperses it in water.
@SLP8285 ай бұрын
@notquiteme07-bi6il but it really doesn't. The low amount of water doesn't seem to disperse it evenly through the clothes. It's an easy solution so I don't use too much detergent.
@notquiteme07-bi6il5 ай бұрын
@@SLP828 the water should be above the clothes. If it doesn't mix when you add the water, it definitely gets mixed during the agitation cycle. And if you still think it doesn't, you can have the washer fill with water first with the detergent and then add clothes
@SLP8285 ай бұрын
@notquiteme07-bi6il it's a high efficiency so unless I put it on bulky it senses the water level which is just barely above the clothes. I've even had instances that of a corner of clothing is basically dry, like not washed. It's just what I'm dealing with, either washing on bulky or pre-diluting the detergent. I'm looking to get new machines in a month or so... thanks for the information anyway 😊

Good experiment to test *something* useful, but more useful is the information that if and when those plastic pods actually do dissolve, they re-form, guess where, inside the machinery of your washer and inside your drain pipes. Both expensive to repair or replace.

I use liquid pods for dark colours and a 40/30 degree wash and use powder for whites. Better to use a 20 grams of bio powder every 4 to 6 weeks on empty longest and hottest program to clean your washing machine or washer dryer. It says it in the manual to clean on empty like this but with specific washing machine cleaning products. I do that every 6 months. It's definitely liquid causing the appliances to be slimy and dirty inside. Much love from the UK xx.
