We're headed there next month. I absolutely detest these types of factory excursions. As much as we want to visit the Rosario Islands, I'm going to look into a private tour I think

@@cookingandmakeup yes, save yourself from the hecticness! A friend of ours did the catamaran tour which sounds a lot nicer. If we went again we’d do that. Enjoy!

This day would have been so stressful for me 😆 not knowing if I should get off the boat.. stay on...or if it is coming back 😵‍💫 i am so glad it all worked out ok for you two.

Yep, we wouldn’t recommend these tours to anyone honestly 😅 we would do a catamaran or own group boat maybe and be picky about the stops for sure if we went back.

Having you two out there 2 weeks before Sam and I arrive is brilliant! How long are you in Colombia for? If you can go to Medellín, Cali and Popayan and find all the pitfalls for us that would be handy 👍😂😂😂 X

It was busy & typically they make the most of tourism but you can’t blame them. Would have been pricey for a quieter tour I’m sure?! IF you can get them?!? Bet snorkelling was good with so many fish anyway! Love the aerial view of the beautiful coloured sea & coral. Still it was good to see & certainly better than not going! Thanks.

Which tour was that and where did you book it? Did this tour include any other islands other than Baru? I'm curious, how did you protect your valuables when snorkeling?

We booked it through our Airbnb host but it’s just one of the many boat tours there. You can book them everywhere in the old town or simply walk past here and book, in Cartegena they are constantly selling them as you walk by.

We were worried about our stuff too, Craig even stayed on the boat for a while and we planned to take it in turns in the water but our guide assured us it was fine so we went in together. Bag was ok but not an ideal set up really.

@@TideKnotTravellers I bought a waterproof cell phone pouch/lanyard online that I plan on using when I go snorkeling. I'm going to use it just for storing my iPhone, cash, and ID. I could use it to take pictures/videos but I have a separate underwater camera that I'll either use the wrist strap that it came with or another lanyard just for that. I'm traveling alone and not going to take any chances. I did notice a review for another tour where someone's cash got stolen by the driver while he was snorkeling and the tour operator supposedly tipped him off when the police were arriving.

Thank you for being honest :-) I would cry, if I would to the tour, since I'm a solo traveller with no Spanish. It's also absolutely not my tipe of travelling and I will avoid this trip for sure :-)

We’re glad to be able to help. We heard the catamaran tours are much nicer (they cost a little more though).
