Tidradio TD-H8 Firmware Upgrade

After wasting the last 3 hours of my life watching videos trying to figure out what the differences between version 23-03-17 and 23-10-31 were I finally found your video. Tidradio needs to publish a change-log for their firmware updates, and a way to go back to older versions!😡 Thank you HR Crusader! At least you touched on some of the changes the new firmware has. Breath LED is when the screen goes dark,the green LED will pulse,so you know its operational.

Ordered the gen2 on amazon. Received it without the usb-c battery and with the radio unable to communicate with chirp. Frustrated as to why my other h8 communicated fine, I decided to check the firmware. Stumbled upon your video after cussing a few times through a few internet searches and you got me through it. I just got mine and had to upgrade the firmware. I used the programing cable that came with my Talkpod a36 plus, and it worked perfectly.

When you did the reset, holding the # key puts the radio in "UNLOCKED" mode, * is HAM mode, 0 is GMRS mode. One thing I noticed when playing with this was that the radio did not see my HAM code plug that I had previously installed.

Breath LED is to let you know. You're radio is still powered on. You can time it to blink green every so often. So you know whether you need to turn your radio off or not.

Usually hold #, PTT, button 1 or button 2, and turn on and it says FACTORY and all frequencies are open and can transmit on all frequencies.

So breath led is the time delay for the radio's "I'm powered up" internal LED flash after the screen goes dormant. Hope this helps.

Breath LED is to turn the LED off on top of the radio..

Actually It blinks the LED when the radio display goes to sleep to let you know the radio is still powered on. It's a handy little feature after all!

It seems there is no com port to windows 11....typical gates. Seems to be normal according to search I tried to "read: while in open but needed firmware info which could not be "matched". I have no problems with programing Bluetooth. Can the firm ware be updated buy bluetooth? no cables to use except tyt cable.

I just got it today was on version 230309 or something the march update. First thing I did was update it to the latest version. Checked for noise while transmitting no issues. Checked for it getting hot while transmitting no issues. Wish I could check power output. Used chirp to load all my saved channels fixed the power level for all my channels. Solid unit I did have to turn the mic gain to 32

I have never built an AllStar node with a MMDVM hat. I have built Digital Pi-Star’s with the MMDVM hat. AllStar is analog that you can “Bridge” to DMR digital with the DVSwitch add on. But there is an analog radio “Hat” that you can purchase from kitsforhams or hotspotradios.com

Make sure ya got the right cable. Mine had the pl2023 driver. Apperantly no dice with that cable. Chirp dont even work with that cable on the tidradio. Got the right one ordered then i realized my radio works fine so why upgrade the firmware.

firmware update installed automatically after I reinstalled Odmaster app...only issue, it doesn't add channel name.

The app is not my best friend. However, it does work, but it can be confusing. Are use the programming, software, or program it from the face more than I use the app.

Not usuallay but I have seen it happen. When you do a Power-On Mod like holding the PTT and the # key while powering it on and then selecting to reset it will erase everything

Sorry, No. the Bluetooth is only for wireless programming.

why does it say gmrs when its for a ham HT ? They just emailed me a specific cable on amazon to gt then they said they are working on firmware via the bluetooth ap so maybe I will just wait. if there seems ot be no change so to speak why upgrade

This HT was originally marketed as a GMRS but then they released the Ham versions (same radio just different firmware) it’s a long saga of events. But one version of firmware is for GMRS use and the other is for Ham.

Yes I need the bluetooth firmware version from the app. Driving me insane as I have one radio at version 2 and the other at version 1. I cannot update the version 1 due to not having a windows PC at home that allows software installs (Have a work PC thats locked down and a personal mac).

Well, then. Thats my problem I was simply connecting the USB cable from the radio to the PC and no com ports were showing up. How silly of me not to realize you need a special programming cord when the thing has a usb port on board. China.
