I have the H8 that came with 2 ant 2 bats and spkr mic. Been 3 months really love the HT. mine is output 8.8 to 10.5 watts . Sometimes it wants to act up connecting to BT but it always eventually does. i have tested it beside my FT60R and the higher output allows me to hit the 2 repeaters I use but cant hit from work location with the ft60r. audio is great and my tx audio is very good per reports. the longer ant makes a big difference in the range for TX. the speaker mic works very well no issues with it or the sound. There is a new version firmware just came out end of September and you have to use the program cable to install it. tidradio says they are working on being able to do the firmware upgrades via the Odmaster app.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. It would be great if they do make it possible to update the firmware via Odmaster.

I used an official TID Radio cable and was able to update my H8's FW with no problem.

I recently bought a 2 pack 3nd gen of this radio. The programing/ mic ports are defective. Another YT expert encountered the same defect. Tried calling support, but the line is busy ALL day. I'm going to keep the radios, but I'm really pissed. Live and learn.

Do you have a suggestion for a newbie video to learn the basics for a GMRS radio TID H3 and H8 To learn basics like VFO Positive Direction, offset and the other vernacular in this industry so we better understand these tutorials

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! I will look into putting a video like that together.

Think your limited to 5 watts because you are unlocked. If it was ham only you would get 10w but GMRS and unlock limits to 5w? I thinks that's whats happening.
@3qdx8 ай бұрын
Just got mine and with the 'Unlock Full Open' option, the power levels I see, are 2, 4 and 9w, and that was after a few hours of use, so definitely not limited to 5w.

I just bought the TID H8 from TIDRADIO i selected the Ham because the description on both the HAM and GMRS was the same. I have a GMRS license. Did I order the wrong one? according to the specs I can use the same radio as GMRS

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I believe there is a way to convert that radio to GMRS. I will see if I can find out how and let you know

When you 'Save' the data from the Radio, where is that File stored on your phone? I don't see it in ODMaster.

What is the best mode to put the radio in for mainly just listening
@WJ6FRadio2 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. For just listening go ahead and find the frequency you desire to listen to and when you program it don't enter a PL Tone or transmit frequency on your radio. This way if you accidentally bump the PTT buton you won't interfere with the others

Do you recommend changing any function settings

I’m not licenced yet/untrained in ham. How do I enter listen only mode? What happens if I hit the orange emergency button (if I had an emergency) Ty!
@WJ6FRadio9 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. For listening you can switch VFO enter the desired frequency and listen. If you are in a bonafide emergency you, from what I understand, are allowed to use the radio to get help.

Would like to have seen you switch from Ham to GMRS. I assume all H8 can do this using the software?
@3qdx8 ай бұрын
You don't need the Software. With the HT off, hold PTT, and your choice of '*', '0' or '#' and then power up to get your choice of GMRS, HAM, or Wide Open.

The second number to the right of the decimal is hundredths. Tenths is first to the right of the decimal.

How can you tell if it’s a gen2
@WJ6FRadio2 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Well I know of one way. With the Gen 2 I am no longer getting a burn from the battery terminals on the back of the radio. I can ask the company what other items were changed if you like.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. All you need to do is program in the desired frequency and listen. No need to add in any CTCSS (except for the few repeaters that require CTCSS to listen), or repeater shift direction.
