Quallified spark who doesn't understand switching!! Hopefully this humbles KZbin sparks who constantly put down lads who was there before them. Nothing wrong with asking for help advice, but don't constantly slate the workman before you. Respect for Cory saying he asks for Johnny advise. if the power goes off though, the owner would have to call an electrician and who knows when the electrician arrives and if he knows how to pair the switches again!

This is a great set of episodes on the wiring of "this old house". Enjoyable to watch and learn from Cory & Ruben, I am looking forward to the final fix episode. If only there were electricians like Artisan in my city in Oz. Here the general modus operandi for most trades is a clean up (if at all) far from the standard shown in the videos and all work on the principle of the path of least resistance, which often ends with the completed work being a real eyesore.

Cory, feed and switch wire at the intermediate position will work the same as it would if it were at the two way switch position.
@rossthompson16353 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, yes it does. I even drew myself a diagram to prove it, after comments on the first video.

Would you connect the feed into l1 and s/l into l2 of same side of intermediate switch in this case?
@rossthompson16353 жыл бұрын
@@liamfenwick6320 Yes, it is exactly the same as putting them in L1/L2 at one of the ends - you are connecting to the same wires, just further along.
@Marcel_Germann3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the wiring method. There are two versions, both permitted, but the feed on the intermediate will only work on one of both methods and not on the other one.

Love the Quinetic switching system - just 'pair and go'.
@chaseohara47812 жыл бұрын
It's interesting because what you call a two way switch, we call a three way switch in North America (because it has three wires), and what you call an intermediate switch, we'd call a four way (again because it has four wires). So funny how terminology for what is essentially the same thing can vary so much.

To tip always put the Quinetic receivers somewhere easy to get at, occasionally they can loose pairing and need a reset and re-pairing, don’t want to be having to crawl into tiny spaces to do it!

Question for Cory. Do you think that Quinetic will be the death of house rewires? Would be nice to get some input on this.
@JayTheSparky3 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t have ever thought so the cost of one switch and receiver compared to the cost of traditional wiring is much higher. It offers a great solution for instances like this or when you need say the lighting rewired in a property but don’t want the extra cost of plastering/ filling chases and decoration etc. How ever standard wiring will always be preferred if you have the option. But this is a great product for certain situations & are great to use. Even got some in my own house.
