I’m a long way on the list from Wedgewood Blue but it’s one of my favorite for splits. Have you watched the Powder Pink and Shiitake single color ice dye tutorials? They’re pretty speckly, but I think they look really cool. Just curious, is it necessary to pre-soak the shirt in soda ash water before doing ice dye if you are going to go ahead and put more stuff ash later? I’ve never done ice dye before but I’d like to try.

Short answer is, no. However, I recommend that you do soak, especially if you’ve never done ice dyeing before. Until you’re an advanced dyer I recommend you soak all of your projects with soda ash prior to tying and dyeing them. Procion dye needs the soda ash to raise the pH of the cotton fibers in order for the dye to bond. As you learn more about the process you can tweak how things are done if you choose to. I personally soak everything still after years… ♥️🌈

A lot of people here in Ohio pronounce it “piney”. It took me forever to figure out they were saying peony lol
