I hate it when this happens. Don’t feel bad. You’re not alone. Thanks for sharing Steph.

I think the second one is OK but when you were pouring out all of that ice dye the only thing I could think of was to throw a shirt into it and see what happens it can’t hurt thanks for sharing❤️😁✌️

Thanks for sharing it helps me not to feel so bad when my projects fail. To know even the professionals fail helps me not to feel so bad.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us Steph - - it helps us to know that even our (s)heroes have fails too! I totally feel your disappointment and frustration - especially after all the dye and time you put in to it and going through the whole process only to find it didn't work.
@sewslow27002 жыл бұрын
I think the second one is actually pretty cool! You can't usually get red-green-purple next to each other without brown, so it's unique for sure.

A friend gave me some old white shirts, he said I could use them for testing. I told him there was no way I’d waste all that dye! I already waste enough on my failures 😆 Steph, your “failures” actually look nice..I imagine someone will really enjoy those. It’s always a challenge when you let lemon yellow and turquoise touch..it would be scary if not for that beautiful green they make ❤️🌈

RIP to all the projects that could have been and the materials wasted from a mislabeling failure. I know what a bummer that is. Thanks for sharing.

It’s interesting how the lace trim came out. I’m sure someone would love them.

It's really interesting. The projects I hate sometimes end up being best sellers. I was tempted not to bring a few shirts that I considered ugly. But I've decided to bring them all from now on, because sometimes the ones I hate end up selling first. You never know what appeals to someone else.

Oh no! They aren’t terrible but I know they aren’t what you wanted. Thanks for sharing the ups and the downs. 💜

Steph, you are so funny. This video was triggering anxiety but in a good way. Super cute cover up and damn all the sellers on Amazon that falsely advertise. I gotta tell you that it makes me feel somewhat better about my goof ups if you do it too. However, both were ok! Thanks for sharing honest results. Can’t believe the blue disappeared

It's about time you failed at something. LOL! I mean, geez, everything you make turns out so awesome... even when you think you've made a mistake! So, I'll agree with you this time - they didn't turn out all that great. However, lessons were learned along the way and I'm sure the next one(s) you make will be amazing... because they always are. 😁👍

I don't consider the second 1 a fail lol..i think it came out beautiful..love that you show us the fails as well as the successes..thanks for sharing

So was the issue that the items weren't really as much cotton as stated? I love that you post your fails as well as your successes so we can learn as well!!!!

Just came here to say that I've also done this exact same fail lol so don't feel bad! The wasted dye does suck but it's a learning experience at least. I do think the rainbow one isn't bad though!

I wonder how hot water irrigation would do on these. I actually like the rainbow one lol

This is also a great example of the color strike speed. Red strikes quickly which is why you got good red coverage. Yellow takes longer and blue the longest. In this situation with a blend you need quick strike or it all goes down the drain. Notice how there is like no blue, and the first one the blue probably took the red right down the drain with it. Thanks for sharing. There is always a learning opportunity. Oh, you can NEVER tryst an Amazon vendor. You ought to try the burn test on a small piece of the fabric to see just how much cotton there is.

do an over dye with rit dye more or sum other poly heat based. that's what I do snd sometimes the overlap is amazing! I'm sure you already know all this.

I think they both still look cute, just not what you wanted.. I appreciate that you show us all aspects of tie dyeing, like when it doesn't take.. I like that you keep it real and show everything. It sucks that you had to waste the dye tho, I don't like to waste either..

Omg I’m so sorry 😢 it really stinks when this type of this happens. I ruined a spiral by over saturating it one time and I was so upset, I know how this feels. It’s so weird how the the ice dyed one had almost no color and the liquid dyed one took so much better. The second on isn’t bad, I think it’s still pretty. Maybe you can do a single bucket type dye on the ice dyed one. Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Aw, yeah, I don't like wasting either. All that dye going down the drain. I could hear the frustration in your voice. Oh, well, sorry for bringing to your attention again. Thanks, tho, for sharing showing us the failures.

Wow! Yeah, all that wasted dye must have hurt. It's one thing to waste dye on a garment that you just, for whatever reason, don't like the results of. But at least you have something to show for it. But that first one, the garment just totally rejected the dye entirely! Don't stay bummed.

Oh no! This is one of my worst fears. I am so careful to check the tags when I shop for this reason. I’m sorry this happened. The rainbow doesn’t look all that bad. At leases there is more color on that one.

It makes no sense that the crochet portion really didnt absorb much or any dye. I wonder if the material was mislabeled and was one that does not work well with dyeing.
@kathyschoegjenelson33822 жыл бұрын
I’m so sorry this failed. I simply refuse to buy any blanks if I don’t know the full fabric content. I will query seller, but if I don’t get an answer I pass. You are right, it’s a lot of waste.

I can imagine how you must feel with all that waste. It was painful watching it all go down the drain. ❤ It's so weird that only some of the lace trim took the color. Note to self. Never trust amazon garments. 😞
