2:09-3:00 I had my computer in my room next to the window. I would intentionally get the music to loop and uninterrupted and at this point, plug in some headphones, and I would stare out my window at the vast stars across the night sky, contemplating the vastness of space and existence.

5:47 Love this battle loop. Still not quite complete, but it's a good one. I really amazes me how the music composers created so many sequences to accommodate every situation in the battlefield, even introducing alternate sequences to take the emotion along a different path to provide variety, and alter the music for subtle differences in tactical situation. They really cared about the players. This is the only game this music was used in, and nowhere else.

My favorite game of all times! iMuse brought so much intensity to the game play. I just wish the movie makers and game developers like EA would realize the value of the older games and their musical score.

The thing I love most is how the music is interactive. It is always cool when you kill an enemy fighter and it has the flourish of music. Playing the game always lifts my spirits.

I Think NA8C did mean that it is the only game that the Star Wars music was made in an originally way with iMuse and a lot of good melodies changing with some events ingame
@stefanmaier18534 жыл бұрын
@@VinoBierra It definitly is a notch up from X-Wing but the iMuse system was already used in a similar way in X-Wing. TIE FIghter is a special gem, but there are several good LA Star Wars games of the time that used the iMuse system well. The orginal Dark Forces defnitly did a great job too.

@@ghos7bear There's another cue when the big ship comes in at the end of a successful mission, especially a hold-out mission. It's a big, heroic take on the Empire theme, and I've been looking for it.

@@ghos7bear thats like when a cargo ship comes in. Whats missing is when a capital ship like an SD or VSD or carrier shows up. They have a big one for Calamari Cruisers and frigates too.

Lucasfilm makes the Star Wars stuff, not Disney. And what they make now is canon. Whether you like it or not.

I also love how the game portrays the empire in a new light as the galactic peace keepers. The Empire is hated on too much because they are the "bad guys".

Really great! What kind of sound setup are you using to playback the music?
@damsonn7 жыл бұрын
I recorded the midi output from DOSBox while playing the game, slightly edited it in MidiEditor (to make it more "structured" as it is dynamically changing depending on what's going on on screen) and converted resulting mid file with midi2mp3 converter using ChoriumRevA soundfont. You could basically get this quality in game by using VirtualMIDISynth with favorite soundfont and changing midiconfig variable in dosbox.conf file to appropriate setting (use "mixer /listmidi" command in dosbox to check which device corresponds to which number while VirtualMIDISynth runs in background).
