That was a great episode of Flats Class with Capt Codty. I'm in Ft Myers and looking forward to checking out those spots on the river. Great advice on the knot too! Thanks!

So true on the foul, it’s a total pain. I will try your suggestion real soon. Thank you for the info.

That makes perfect sense! A problem I've delt with in my fresh water fishing many times not knowing there was a solution. Thank Capt.

Very cool I Was thinking of using different types of leader to stop the loop from catching my hook, I really swear by yo Siri pink soft floor carbon. It actually gives me the best results even though I do have to untangle the hook from the loop a lot of times thanks CA always learn something from you.

Bravo, I use a 5 turn improved clinch knot 90% of the time unless I’m walking a spook or something similar 🍀🎣🍀😎

Great, great detail. Your point makes a huge difference even to me, a fly fisherman. Loops are not needed for light tippet since a light tippet is often limp enough to allow movement. Also, I have noticed the same issue with Loop knots allowing the material on certain flies to foul more often. Don't get me wrong, loops are often the best choice depending on the situation and stiffness of a tippet, but they shouldn't be automatic. These fine adjustments can make a huge difference. Thank you so much for sharing your vast knowledge.

Love the new intro brother. I also tie an improved clinch knot with a 40lb leader on all lures with front trebles. Keeps the leader stiff, straight and away from the hook.

40 lb I don’t use that for yellowtail 30 max ?

Man you are the most “fisherman” looking guy I’ve seen on KZbin. A cross between Captain Highliner and the most interesting man in the world beer guy. lol.

Interesting idea. 3 out of 10 cast the line always snag the front treble hooks. I’m going to try this knot.

You make me feel sane. Agreed! Lighter leader more wrap. You know better with the 40lb. If you hook a UBoat you have much better odds. UBoats happen.

Hey Capt...what if your using a split ring. Will the improved clinch on a split ring cause the leader to snag the front treble also....or is it good to go....thanks.

How many times have you hooked a fish on the front hook. Very seldom for me. Why not just remove it.
