Jeff Narrow yes as far as I know both a tie and the $100,000 win in the same episode, this is the first time it has happened.... But I believe there has been more than three ties in Wheel of Fortune history if you count the pre-toss-up days. But yes ties are very rare on Wheel of Fortune, but they are always interesting when they do happen!

Before the toss-up era, a tiebreaker was resolved by the tied players playing another puzzle under speed-round (final spin) rules. So back then, it was possible for Pat to give the wheel another "final spin".

This was such an awesome and very rare instance to come up in addition to the $100k win in the BR afterwards, and actually i did happen to witness the first tie that occurred back in March 2003 when i was eight years old but then missed the second one which came later during Season 23 in early '06. As far as i know this was only the third known time a tiebreaker has happened of this kind since the Toss Up puzzles debuted way back in September 2000 at the start of Season 18.

according to smile of a child, there was no swep, it edited the $5000 wedge to latoya, actually she won $60400. there had been wheel of fortune episodes edited with the current settings, and tie breakers, the new episodes have charlie talking.

i remember seeing a Video a while ago; WHERE THE LAST TIEBREAKER WAS IN 2004!!

acutally it was on june 8th, 2 contestants were tied at $16350, the margin was $50 less from 03, the 3 way tie, and the man won. the 3 way tie on the all stars was $10700, they did a 4th toss up for $2000, for $12700.

I attended a 1987 taping with a tie. I think they played another round with just the 2 players. Well before the tossup era.

actually it was $14700, Mimi had won the toss up sweep, Sunny won a trip on round 2, if only Mimi missed the slogan, she would of stayed on $11700. Sunny had his million dollar wedge, and if they solve the 4th toss up puzzle, will play for the million dollars. you're right, sunny solved, and kept his million dollars and raced to $15700. No Sunny didn't win the million, he won $25k, to $40700.
