Tier 1 STAR EAGLE Upgrading and Modifications - A Ship Building Guide

All great advice, you know about particle weapons, which surprisingly few KZbinrs seem to understand...particle weapons all day, everyday. ;) - Vanguard Oblierator Proj (have to do Vanguard quests to use) (6) --> power 4, power assigned only impacts reload speed, not dps - PBO-30 Auto Electron Beam (4) --> power 4 - EMP-80 Suppressor (3) --> power 4 (use for pirating ships) Here is how I laid out my habs, works well; - Bottom layer (3x1, 1x1): replace with - 2x1 Armory, 2x1 Control Station - Mid layer (2x1, 2x1, 2x2): replace with - 2x1 CQ, 2x1 AIO B, 2x2 LQ --> this is a great "Personnel" layout, alternatively, swap 2x2 LQ with 2x2 Battle Station - Top layer (2x1, 1x1): replace with - 2x1 WS, 1x1 CW or 2x1 Lab/Infirmary

If you want to change the variant of a hab, you don't need to delete and re-add. You can press space-bar and use the left-right arrow keys to cycle through the available options. It also saves you having to fix the colors on a new hab. Also if you need an extra hab and already have a colored one, you can use ctrl-G to duplicate the hab, then space to change its variant.

did a similar thing with the Frontier in one of my playthroughs. It's now a class C ship, jumps 30 LY, is lightning fast with max mobilty, and shreds everything in seconds. I love building and rebuilding ships, take what's bad and make it crazy good. 🙂

Thanks for the great content JT and the three consecutive Tier levels for upgrading the Star Eagle are amazing helpful! I am lvl 45, rolled Alien DNA, Task, and empath, Iove the persuasion mechanic, and it has gotten me out of a lot of sticky situations. I play on a Xbox 50" surround system and landing and taking off never gets old! I gave up on shipbuilding previously because I couldn't figure out the mechanics and button commands on the controller, was very frustrating, and I gave up until I saw your video. I finished the UC line, got the condo, and acquired Star Eagle just this week. Your step by step, double trigger A to select, saved me and then it all came together! My ship is exactly the way you have it, I even upgraded the fuel cells, put window caps on all the habs, and I did have the skill lvl for the best white dwarf aft engine. I never could have done this without you, thx again! Then I painted it all black, it looks sick lol! Looking forward to tier 3! Still loving the game... Cheers

One of the things I want to thank you for is the simple explanation of matching a colour scheme. I acquired The Mantis quite a few levels before I received The Star Eagle. You gave me some more idea's for that ship. I'm currently at Level 42 with just Starship Design 1. I may tinker with The Mantis more as I like the 2 shielded cargo holds I added. I want a ship that makes sense when I do the Crimson Fleet quest line. I'll check out your other videos and subscribe because I enjoy your way of explaining things. Thanks!

I'm not big on ship building so videos like this that helps alter/upgrades existing ships is awesome so thanks for the video. One thing I wanna point out is that I didn't know you have to click on the blue circle thingy at that specific part for a path or ladder, for the Armory part I clicked on the circle thing from the cockpit side and got a ladder going up to the 3 level that confused the f out of me LOL, I was like "I did everything exactly like the video so how the f did I get a ladder going up to the 3rd level?" So, I rewatched the video a few times to get it right.

@14:28 BTW, if you slightly move Captian's Qtrs and turn it green, you can use the arrow keys to cycle though the other habs, but keep the current paint job. (Rather than deleting and replacing with another 2x1 Hab).

Hey there! Grats on your new ship. I always fly in 3rd person so I can’t give you definitive advice on cockpits, however, the frontier uses nova cockpits, and Razorleaf uses Deimos. If you have either ship you can use them as reference to see if you’d prefer one of those cockpits instead.

On my Star Eagle, I moved the docker right under the loading bay so I have a single point of entry all the time. It was annoying to have to go to the back and up the 3rd floor when boarding pirate ships.

I FORCE myself to put an Engineering Module on every ship. It SHOULD require an Engineering module on every ship. I agree with you that it is not necessary to have one right now. It would be nice to have a 2x1 workstation Hab as well. How I redesigned the Star Eagle was to take away the Brig (you can't lock up prisoners in the game) and replace it with a 2x2 Living Quarters. I separated the wings in the middle and added one workstation Hab and one science Hab (one on either side) .. connecting them with the HopeTech cross brace to keep them as a wing. I added replaced the 2x1 living quarters with an all in one had with beds. Like you.. replaced all the lasers and missiles with particle beams.

I changed the docking bay (a normal top one) and the loading bay (hopetech has two connection points on top and sides, deleted all the habs on 3rd level and level 1, made one level ship with 4 2x1 modules, without stairs with a infirmary, a workshop, 1 all in one Nova Galactic A and a control module.

@@jtsgaminghijinx Just converted the Frontier to C grade, with the deimos cockpit 40.2 only one level with 2 2.1 connected to the cockpit then 2 2.1 on the outside of door 2 and another two on those forming a V shaped, also used cargo holds as ship body, and the round fuel tanks as body for the front of the ship, They're 250 fuel for 25 mass best ratio they give hull the cosmetic parts don't. Next I will convert my Mantis to the best B class possible, already have the reactor and grav drives.

I’ve been trying to upgrade the grav drive to reach the hunter and the emissary but at this staryard the grav drive is grayed out and doesn’t let me upgrade it for the start eagle. It doesn’t show me any module menu to customize with

I did everything you said had to change from vanguard to the other one and it says I have excess weapon power usage ship is using too much power for weapons reduce weapon count. What do I do?

@@randyscalf6755 the best that I can figure is that the weapon you switched from the vanguard, you didn’t lower how many you had mounted. The vanguard you could have 6. Most other weapons you can only have 4.

I tried to follow the build but then when I went to add the particle guns the game would not allow me to save as configured I had to cut back the particle guns down to two. The game kept warning me I had too much power equipped for my reactor. Where you're equipped power was at 41 and not highlighted mine was red and wouldn't let me save until my equipped power equaled the reactor power. Edit:. I was able to go back to New Atlantis and complete the upgrades at the ship technician without issue. Probably just a Bethesda glitch at stroud eckland. My game is so glitched it's ridiculous.

How much did these upgrades cost in total? I just got the Star Eagle, and don't have much cash (like ~50k? I can't remember exactly but I'm about to get on in a little bit). If I can't do the whole upgrade, what do you recommend purchasing first? I'm guessing the Vanguard weapons, which I do have access to.

Why delete the habs you want to change when all you need to do is click on it to highlight it and then flip to a different hab. I don't know what key it is on PC but it's the D pad for Series X. Deleting just adds more steps to the changing process. You'll get sick of the 2x2 living quarters eventually. The 2x2 Battle Station Hab is much better. More places for your crew to keep busy and out of your hair.
