I re-stack tiers S to B after removing Ultimate Artifacts later in the video, so watch til the end before you slay me in the comments.

Any artifact that gives you some benefits (eg halving the damage received from cold spells), even if the benefit may be situational, is going to be at least a tier better than an artifact that brings you harm, eg Tax Lien. They can’t be in the same tier.

About ''Quil" that reduces surrender to 10% cost of your army. It's rarely useful, but it can be used with units that move first. Just imagine a hero with high Spell Power and a Phoenix. You attack the enemy, use damaging spell, like Elemental Storm, and Surrender. Or have 2 squads of Phoenixes: 1 squad with all of your Phoenixes and 2nd squad with 1 Phoenix. 1st Squad attacks enemy stack, and then turn goes to 2nd Phoenix, that use Surrender with low money spend. It's not that bad as it can be. The same goes with Black Dragon and Armageddon spell.

orb of negation should be much much higher, its basically an insta win if you have the superior army, its like a i know i am better so i am locking in my win button, ofcourse especially good on might heroes but can also be good on magic heroes if going against other magic heroes, as a bonus it also prevents the AI from blinding your stuff constantly so definitely at least A tier if not S

Oh, dear. The Breastplate and Sword of Dominion should definitely be A Tier, both adding +3 for to their respective stats! The Witch's Broach is a +3 and should be in A Tier (like the Major Scroll of Knowledge that is a +3). The Stealth Shield and Power Axe should bumped up to B Tier along with the other +2 stat artifacts. The Spiked Helm should be bumped down to B Tier as it is strictly inferior to the Spiked Shield (+1 each Atk and Def vs +2). The Morale and Luck artifacts should be higher than D Tier. The Endless Sack of Gold (extra 1000 gold per day!) is definitely higher than D Tier. The Wizard's Hat should be higher than D Tier, Knights and Barbarians make up 1/3 of heroes after all. The Evercold Icicle is practically almost as good as the Lightning Rod (assuming one has their respective spells), definitely not two tiers lower. There are many artifacts in F Tier here that are very situational, but still better than F Tier such as the Wand of Negation, Pendant of Death, Pendant of Life, Kinetic Pendant, Holy Pendant, etc.

I don’t understand holy hammer being in A while Sword of Anduran being S. The only difference between those two artifacts is that the sword of Anduran can be combined with the helmet and breastplate to assemble the battle garb; a very specific feature that most map creators have to implement into their map for it to work. For me, I would think that holy hammer and sword of Anduran should be in the same tier. 5 attack is no joke.

Hey, thanks for watching. That's an excellent point, but Anduran is S tier for the sake of the other two parts of the Garb. 5 Attack is no joke, but Town Portal is game-breaking.

@@KhelbensCoinTV I understand your point, because in most cases assembling the battle garb is the closest thing to an instant win. However, it’s very specific. If maps do not place all 3 of those artifacts on the map, this feature very rarely activates. I do admit that maps (like THUNK), where assembling the battle garb is very much possible, the Anduran pieces shine, and are better than the holy hammer.

Yeah, for sure... All pieces have to be present or you have to get REALLY lucky with a Shipwreck Survivor, Pyramid, Sphinx, or a random Treasure Chest and have one fall in your lap. Anyway, I can definitely see your reasoning on the Holy Hammer and thanks for the discussion! I enjoyed it.

Like the video, but Book of Elements being F is a travesty. There are 10 total level 5 spells 4 of which are summon elemental. It is very useful when your level 5 mage guild gives you one of the 4 summoning elemental spells. It is minimum B. Do a tier ranking of the hero skills.

- Cloak of Protection from Cold. Hugely disagree. PC uses either Cold Ray, either Lightning. These two spells they likely to have when you face, and if you have this cloak, then they don't use Cold attacking spells. I would place it in B category. - Cloak of Protection from Cold. Yeah, they are less useless than Cold Cloak, but AI still use fireballs. It's not F Tier but maybe D. But to be honest, I also rarely equip this artefact, but it's still more useful than other artefacts in F Tier. - Artefact that protects from Death Wave is definitely not F. It's D minimum. As a Knight, it's painful to watch when after each Death Wave, I lose 1-2 Swordsmen or Cavalry. - Holy Pendant. It protects you from Holy spells. I don't remember whether AI use this spell or not, but it's useful for Necromancer who is vulnerable to Holy spells. SO I would put it to D minimum. - Telescope. It's useless when you have full map vision, but important for secondary heroes who scouting for you. If it's picked up in the first week of the game, then I would put it to D minimum. Later - it's less useful. But I always give Telescope to my secondary hero who is scouting for me. - Fire Stone (+50% damage with Fire Spells and +50% damage taken from Cold spells). Definitely not in the same tier as Cold Stone, cuz AI use Cold Ray very often, so I would put it to F for sure. I don't need to take additional damage from mages. - Wood and Ore +1 artefacts. They are definitely in F tier cuz they are easy to get. - +500 gold can be in D Tier, but +750 and +1000 gold pockets should be definitely in C minimum, with +1 gem, mercury, sulfur and crystal artefacts. 750 Gold = 1 Cyclopus, and 1000 gold = 1 Crusader or income from 1 Castle without Statue and Dungeon. They are just not for main hero, but they worth to spend your turn to defeat the guard. - Sphere of Negation. It's hard to use cuz there are 4 factions that use spells and they may have Chain Lightning, Meteor Shower or Armageddon, but what about Knights and Barbs? I think, it's best fits for Knights. It's their Life Saver. Their Champions could attack 2 hex units in the first round (except Phoenix), and because they have good Attack and Defence, they can hold back attack from the enemy mages cuz they will have less Attack. I would prefer use this sphere, than use Mass Haste, or Mass Slow and then, get a Chain Lightning or Meteor Shower with 10+ Spell Spower.

The biggest mistake is ankh is definitely S++ (for big battles if you have 30 spell power, you resurrect 5 titans at once with true resurrect; with ankh, you true resurrect 10 titans with one cast. Same applies to animate dead of the necromancers with ankh. Maybe you misunderstood "resurrect" as the level 4 resurrect spell instead of true resurrect.) Gold bags are always A since you just give them to secondary heros as gold income in homm2 is very low. Otherwise rating quite reasonable. Do agree with all the F tier trash lol.

Hey, thanks for watching! I'll admit the Ankh should be higher, that's my one regret with this list. I'm not convinced it's S-tier yet but I can certainly understand your reasoning. I like playing spellcasters whose super-high spell power makes Resurrect True a baller spell anyway. Also, if I'm losing 5+ Titans in one fight, I'm probably trying to either avoid that fight altogether or it's the last fight of the scenario. So, I'd like to redo this and make the Ankh maybe B-Tier or A-Tier. Let me know some examples where it was an S_Tier for you! I'd love to hear the stories.

I love that you mention the predilection of the AI to use Blind, because good lord is that exhausting to deal with. The Ice Cloak and Heart of Ice have potential massive value, especially early/midgame- what's the backup damage spell when lightning bolt doesn't show up? Cold Ray. (Nobody reeeeally uses Fireball/blast, do they?) Likewise, the Lightning Helm is a godsend against casters, especially AIs. If your army is high numbers of ranged units (Sorceress, Wizard, Barbarian), any way to cut the death count is great. I'd bump them all up at least one tier. Pendants of Life/Death can make being (or fighting) Necromancers / undead SO much easier but don't have any utility outside. Maybe bump them up one tier too. Everything else seems right, though I tend to rate Luck higher utility than Morale. The times repositioning would be most useful, the harm has typically already been done.

-Why are you putting the artifacts that give you protection from certain spells in the same tier as where the cursed artifacts are? They should at least be a D tier or higher. -Heart of Fire/Ice is like Ice/Fire Cloak, but also has a drawback from the other element, so they should be in F tier. -Snake Ring and Evil Eye should be in D tier. They're not that useful, but not completely useless like the cursed artifacts. -Stateman's Quill should be in B Tier. I think someone in the comments section already explained why. -Ballista of Quickness should be in B tier. Combine that artifact with Advanced or Expert Ballista, and you'll be destroying castles in no time. -Power Axe and Stealth Shield of Protection should be in B tier while Dragon Sword of Dominion and Divine Breastplate of Protection should be in A tier. -Spiked Helm is actually +1 ATK +1 DEF. That should go in B tier. -The artifacts that give you a certain amount of resource(s) per day should be in B or A tier. There's a reason why they're classified as a Major artifact and why the Endless Sack of Gold is classified as a Relic Artifact in HOMM3. -Sphere of Negation - S tier. Put it on a powerful hero and fight a warlock or a wizard, and they will scramble for their lives. There's a reason why I play map 3 of "Wizard's Isle" before playing map 4. -Crystal Ball - A tier. I love carrying this thing around and seeing how strong or weak the monsters on the map, enemy or neutral towns/castles, and the enemy heroes are before I decide on taking them on in battle.

Mostly agree; Golden BOW goes higher, Ammo Cart higher and the resource higher. By higher the 1st 2 said by 1eiir up. In #3 I have had fights I ran out of ammo; rare but when it happens goes that long it's like arg wish got that ammo cart. Once defend a Castle no tower no ammo only shooters lost lol might never happen again rare. Gold bags are S Tier for me all of them, #2 hard to make Gold too much just a pain thus yeah. The other 6 A or B as I like resources give to the weaker heroes. I had to look it up been too long since paid full attention the rest makes sense to me where you put them.

First of all, you are really good at sticking to the point and leave out too much self-talk. But maybe you should seperate this tier list into smaller chunks. You could go for a magic-artifact and a might-artifact list. I would also like to see some redeemable talk about most of the f-tier artifacts. Some of them has great value in unique situations. Furthermore: how is it that you put the Estates skill in A-tier and then put gold income artifacts in D-tier? I would rank them the other way around... Well almost... Well, hello to Silvia! Thanks for watching. All good points--I think your suggestion about breaking up the artifacts tier list is a good one because I was comparing gold-earning artifacts against ALL other artifacts, including Ultimate ones, and it isn't necessarily fair to those artifacts. Perhaps I'll revisit this later this year, so thank you for the suggestions! I put Estates on A-Tier because it's a, "latent," skill, meaning every turn it's driving value to your faction regardless of what happens on a given turn. Mule heroes or secondary heroes create a lot of revenue for you just by having been recruited by you, and very few skills give you as much as Estates, especially at Expert. 500 gold per turn per hero who is an Expert is really good. But for artifacts, I felt like I had to put Gold, Wood, and Ore artifacts below Gems, Mercury, Sulfur, and Crystal artifacts just because the latter resources are rarer/required to recruit many 6-Tier creatures. I felt at the time of recording that I couldn't justify saying 1 Gem/day is better than +3 to Attack Skill. However, if I revisit this, you'll probably see a realigning of tiers. I agree with the majority of your picks however the resource/gold artifacts vary in my opinion depending on when you pick them up in the game but none the less the bag of gold which gives an extra 1000 gold a day I would prob put that as a B tier at least maybe even A , the spade of necromancy I never liked (my opinion) i'd put that as a F unless you have necromancy it is useless same with the crystal ball useless I just save the game and go into battle depending on what the approx number of units is few, several, pack, lots, hoard, ect ect The spiked helm is +1 att / +1 def, not 2/2 I'd prob put that as a C tier tier Castors bracelet is +2 not +3 you got a few mixed up hard to keep track of them all Great video and explanation of homm2 artifacts I give it a S+ 👍

I think the resource artifacts should be higher, especially the gold ones. An Endless Sack of Gold can be really useful. Though of course, generally they're put on runner heroes, not in your main stack, if that's what the list is focused on.

Statesmans quill can be realy good in some situations, like if u need to do some combat abuse. Attack a hero with 1 dragon thats very strong then cast armagedon or elemental storm - > Surrender -> Repeat. Solid way to abuse spellcasters. B tier imo

How do we get ultimate artifact? Never seen it before

Not every map has one, but when you visit Obelisks on the world map, it slowly uncovers a treasure map with an X on the ground. Putting a hero who has not moved yet that turn atop the X on the world map and then digging there will get you an Ultimate Artifact. (To dig, click on the Flag icon in the toolbar and then the Shovel icon.) In the original campaign, there is only one scenario with an Ultimate Artifact, and it's optional. Either you go for the artifact or you complete the scenario that lets you carry over your army into the final scenario. In many Standard Games, obelisks can be found that will lead you to the Ultimate Artifact.

13:20 I much rather have +2 to all attributes than 12 wisdom from an ultimate artifact. So I would rank the 2 different. Yes ome is an ultimate, but if you have more mana than you can spend in a battle its not worth that much.

exactly, especially having 2-3 of cursed artifact and intentionally losing to the most powerful hero of your enemy is like casting a permanent curse to enemy hero without even using any mana or turn in the battle. also they will have these curses even in their battles against natural creatures.

It doesn't. In Heroes 2, the Golden Bow only removes the 50% penalty for shooting over walls. It's important if you have an army with good shooters and no archery skill. But even basic archery will already provide the same benefit. And most players using strong shooters would have taken at least 1 point in archery.

1 morale gives you 10% damage. 1 luck gives you 10% damage. 1 attack gives you 5% damage. You put +1 def or attack in C tear but morale items in D-tier. Strange. You put lightning helm in B-tier but cold damage reducing item to F-tier. Ok?

Not sure what you mean by 10% more damage. Good morale gives a unit an extra turn, and good luck lets your unit deal double damage. Clearly, I value artifacts that improve your core skills over the intangibles like Morale and Luck. Morale and Luck are capped at +3 whereas core skills can keep improving. (There's a side argument to be made about the merits of increasing certain core skills beyond a certain point, but that's beside the point.) Lightning spells are not only stronger, but they are cast far more frequently than fire or cold spells. However, I do understand your point; the Fire Cloak and Ice Cloak got done a little dirty in this tier list if the Lightning Helm is ranked so high. Thanks for watching!

@@KhelbensCoinTV 10% more damage explained: 1 luck/morale gives you 10% chance to do double damage. I prefer luck/morale items over +1 stat. Think of it as a loan: 10% boost in early and mid game, 0% boost in the late game. I see cold ray and lightning bolt as basically the same spells. Early game opponent doesn't have both. Ice Robe or Lightning helm, doesn't really matter to me in this scenario. if AI has both spells (mid-game scenario), then it will prefer to cast lightning bolt. Is AI stupid and doesn't change to Cold Ray after seeing you have lightning helm? If AI isn't stupid, then there is no justification to putting lightning helm 3 tiers above ice robe.

Well, that's not 10% more damage, it's a 10% chance to either attack twice or deal double damage. But, sure, I can see why you value them higher because they are super impactful in combat situations.

Great question, and no, I'm not in some cases. I often pass over picking up the Gold Watch or other lower-ranked artifacts in exchange for a free artifact slot. I was very harsh in this tier list... I do intend to revisit it and break up the artifacts by category and do their own tier lists.
